Some nice pretty pictures, excellently painted as always.

Cheers

Actually, Warhammer Ancients home page is here:

Warhammer Ancients

Wargames Foundry is very cool, though.

Bu the way, I always thought that the Dacian king in 106AD had a great name for a Noise Marine, and he will be the leader of my Slaanesh Marines!  :D

(Now, who will be the first to find it?)

MY POSTGRAD TRANSFER

'nuff said.... but the Kaiju is progressing, and there's two conversions on the way too - including a - umm - convertible! Sort of. And no, it's not the GS Cult Limo - yet.

Pic of the week - well, I can't claim to have built this - but it would make a nice project! This is part of the Valletta bastions.

Nice shot. Thanks for sharing it.  :)

OK, special treat - here's another - this is Fort Mosta, part of the Victoria Lines constructed by the British (well, lots of Maltese too!) over a century ago. This is 5 minutes from where I live. On foot...

Interesting stuff V, thanks for posting.

It rather reminds me of the Drop Redoubt on Dover's Western Heights which I visited earlier this year;

Ah - thank you, they ARE similar, although the Maltese ones are earlier or later than the set you posted; the place is dotted with late Victorian fortifications here, which share some features with the Dover ones - except that Limestone is used here. My first image, though, is of an older set of fortifications, which were started in 1566. The city was built by the Knight Hospitallers as their (then) new capital. Ironically, Valletta was defended by the French against the Maltese - helped by the RN - when the French were driven out of Malta after themselves driving out the Knights. What a messy history we've got!

cheers and thanks - I'd love to visit that site!

Its a surreal place- right up on the hillside. You walk through a long tunnel underneath the mound defence to get into it...
It isn't managed as a tourist site either (even though I believe English Heritage own it) - so it is completely deserted, silent and very forbidding.
Worth having a look at if you are in Dover, lots of graffiti and stuff all over the place which is a shame though.

True but then we get into a discussion of whether GW is a rules company that makes minatures.....

:D
Cheers

Well I've entered a new era I guess, one which is no longer dominated by GW. I still love Epic and the rest, but I've started building kits, and dreaming of Kaiju, and buyong historicals, and coming up with Victorian plans. I am working on Kaiju no.1; no. 2 is a ready-painted model (something very strange for me, but I couldn't resist. And I'm also painting no. 3. And, in the meantime, whilst waiting for my Aeronefs and planning how to use my Dwarf Man O' War fleet in Aquanef, I've been inspired by the tentacles and seamen scenario on the Wessex Games site to collect 28mm Victorian sci fi stuff. At the core I already have a small army - none other than my WH40K Praetorians, led by Commissioner Blechley. WHre will they operate? well, their frist field of battle could be Montgomery's lair - a maze of labyrinthine corridors dug underground and inhabited by weird beast men..... if that sounds familiar, remember that I'm reading The Island of Dr. Moreau and have a copy of 1st ed. Space Hulk. As for the beast men, I'll use WH Beastmen and a couple of my new Chainmail models. In the pipeline - men of steel, bear-like bulks (heh heh) and miniature tripods.

But first I have to catalogue my useful models.   :D

Welcome to my very very simialr place V.  A place inhabited by Godzilla and friends, Dinosaur hunters, Aerofleets (hopefully to be joined this year by Submerible fleets too!) and Some ww1 Biplane action.

I still love my Epic too, but I have shifted focus in what I play due to my opponets (<10 years!) and time to play & paint.  I'll still collect and paint and where possible play, but Epic cannot be my sole and main focus anymore.

Change the Word Epic to Games and that is me.

I'll still collect and paint and where possible play, but games cannot be my sole or main focus anymore.  :L

Between work, family, and other issues in my life, games have to take a back seat for now.

I hope that wil change someday, but for now, it is what it is.

Thanks for the welcome, Tas.
Dafrca, in spite of all my posts games really on back-burner at the moment - have only played 5 this year, all very early in the year. The wife and the postgrad and work have minimized my gaming/painting time - and even Epicomms has bitten into it! But it's very much worth being here; and it's also lead to the current Epic-Kaiju-Gothic Victorian phase. :D :D :D

Life has a way of doing that to you. :O

I find I go in waves. I will have a period where I can not game at all, then a period where I get some games in. I have found I just take what I can get. :;):
