Quote (Mojarn Piett @ 27 2004 Feb.,08:02) | -Stay alert, trust no one, keep your lascannon handy! ? | All very well, but what about the massive chillers that go with it? I leave mine parked at the labs...
Progress on diverse stuff - today I should finish spray-varnishing (matt) my tournament army for tomorrow's (!) tournament - the Legio Fausta SM are going to war. Next up:
- WHFB Chaos Marauders and Chaos Dwarfs - WH40k more marines and then Necrons - BFG Imperial Convoy escort fleet - Man O' War Plaguefleet - Warmaster Khemri army and friends - Epic: 1 - Eldar 2 - Deffsta the Gargant 3 - A very particular IG army... plus some odds and ends. Not necessarily in that order.

I tried to take some pictures with my brand new Powershot A80. Result: some totally blurred images. Back to the loser's guide... Lessons learned: "use the macro, Luke" when taking pics up close.
If I manage to learn how to actually use the thing during the weekend I'll be able to post some pics on Monday.

AAAAAAAARRGHHHHHH!!!!!!! I HATE 12-YEAR-OLDS WITH TOO LONG HANDS!!!!
Well, I went to the local store today with 2 friends today to play a BFG game. We did so instead of playing at uni because the store owner asked us to do so to see if we could boost the interest in this wonderul game. Our 2 1500 point battles with imperial, chaos and eldar fleets were quite appreciated by the local costumers so I think this we managed to make.
The problem is that on our own initiative we did also bring several converted ships for display on what you could easily make on that field. Bad mistake.
Several animals that society tends to name as "kids" instead of "dangerous predators with a taste for dropping things and touch what they should not" were around as well. The result is that our nice display of conversions got their attention eventually. Result: the ships were GRABBED by them. Bad enpough when they have greay hands but if those greasy hands also happen to DROP YOUR SHIP so it becomes a piece of wreckage things can get quite worse.
This is what happened with my chaos conversion with a prow launch bay. The reult is that it broke. snif. I liked it. The ship was slammed in way that after reglueing it still looks poo (appart from requiring a complete repaint as well.
So, I am up to remake it, but I will not take as much pains to do so as I did with the first one. I am quite f*cked up about that right now.
So, what I am doing is reassembling home-made chaos ships right now.
Sorry for the rant. I needed it.
Health and a lot of sixes (and dath to 12-year-olds),
Xavi

A sad tale indeed Xavi. Next time, I'm sure you wont be taking them, and then all the real gamers will be the worse off for not seeing and appreciating your work.
Heart felt commiserations.

Not the storm rider for sure since I tried to tweak it et al, but the prow is simply smashed. How a plastic prow can become so crooked falling is beyond my understanding.- It must be the aura of destruction surrounding the git that took it or something...
In any case I am assembling 2 new Marauder class cruisers (the category that the Storm Rider was supposed to belong to) and so far they look ok. Not as god as the Storm Rider since I have not used as many pieces and I am not converting them as I did with the older model, but still. I will give them a try with the modified stats and if they work well I will make converted models for them. We will see. In any case next time we will be bringing the conversions insider a transparent pladtic box for show to prevent that. I was the unfortunate one, but the other players fear the event as well and we all agreed to get that plastic box. We already saw it in a store. Attahing a piece of metal to the bottom of the box so they stick with the polarized bases of the ships (damn, cannot remember what it is called in English... it is that thing that points north; all our ships have their bases with that stuff under them to ensure that they weight more ad are sticky when we transport them) SHOULD prevent further accdents. The store owner also regreted the event and asked us to return ensuring us that that would not happen ahgain. it looks like 2 people (20+ year olds) bought the BFG starter box after the game, so even if we had a ship turned to wreckage in the engagement maybe it was not completely wasted.
Sadly I still have no access to a digicam or nything like that so I am still unable to ost pics of any of my ships They are not that great when it comes to painting anyway, but I was quite proud of the Storm Rider. Well, accidents happen. Next time I am wringing a sledgehammer just in case they happen again, though. Accidents can happen with sledgehammers and 12-year old hands, you know.
Health and a lot of sixes,
Ojos de Brujo- Maria

Quote (primarch @ 01 2004 Mar.,05:57) | They DO understand what a slap upside the head means though.... | Hmmm...though this is true, if my son came home and told me sombody had hit him (never mind the reason), I'd be picking up a sledgehammer of my own...
I find that you can utterly crush people with a few choice words and some loudly raised voices, but then I've had a bit bit of practice
Despite all this, I'm sorry you had to learn about pre-teens to to your detriment Xavi.

Luckily for the git I was stoped before I could kill him. As a consequence I could think about what I was about to make, which is a good thing for the health of the kid. I am against phisical violence in m,ost instances, and this case is not a different cvase, specially since:
1) The kid was around with her mother, that got the action to slap him for me. Quite a nive sight actually.
2) The aforementioned mother was willing to get a cruiser box for me, the one that I am using to make the new model. I didn't ask for it, but she looked quite guilty about the actions of his pet-son (not the pet of his son, but the son himself).
3) The shop owner is one of our friends and gives us qite some yummy discounts, so it is better not to break havoc in his store.
4) See the guy being humiliated by his own mother in front of his friends was one of the best vengeances I have seen so far.
Still, next time the first kind to be less than 3 meters from our ships is gonna get some people screaming at him, I tell you. We already did that. No physical violence, but psychical one. As pointed out by Tas, it is quite effective to reduce the animal into a piece of junk.

Hi!
I know what you mean Tas. While many a time I was tempted to "give it to 'em", thoughts of law-suits and police stayed my hand.
It also made me STAY at home.....

That is a rare thing.
