... "and that's the rub ...", it seems once again, G/W rewrites it's own history ... But it sells models !

Quote (darkone26 @ 09 2003 Sep.,15:43) | Where does that leave the Grey knight pre-heresy dreads? It seems that they are a bit out on the time scale..... | If you think about it logically, there is no problem with the Grey Knights using pre-Heresey equipment.
pre-Heresey pre-Hersey equipment in use by Space Marine Legions
Heresey pre-Hersey equipment in use by Space Marine Legions (both loyalists and traitors)
Post-Heresey - immediately afterwards pre-Hersey equipment in use by Space Marine Chapters
Remember it takes the Imperium hundreds of years to implement changes in equipment, therefore we can expect Space Marine chapters (and the new chapters such as the Grey Knights) using pre-Hersey equipment - and they may not upgrade their equipment immediately. It took 500 years before the Lightning fighter was allowed to go into production.
currently Both pre-Hersey and post-heresey equipment in use by Space Marine Chapters and the Grey Knights

I'm sure that I read somewhere maybe 2nd Edition rule book, or one of the WD's that the Grey Knights were formed in the 2nd Founding as already stated but that they were formed from one of those Legions who were deleted from Imperial records. Thus they would have the equipment of that legion which would ofc be pre-heresy. I don't know about you but I find the fact that the Elite of the Elite (at least thats how I see the Grey Knights) are using ancient machines whilst most Space Marine Chapters are swanning around with swanky new dreadnoughts slightly disturbing.

Quote (darkone26 @ 09 2003 Sep.,19:18) | What made them start knocking out pre heresy stuff I wonder? | if you are talking about FW then I guess they made a master model from which they could make the Chaos dreadnoughts and then decided to make the pre-heresey versions.
The fluff about the Grey Knights indicates that they use the best and the oldest equipment available.
I also guess the pre-heresey Land Raider will be used as the basis for a revised Chaos Land Raider.

Absolutely. ?It takes modern day Defence Forces well over a decade to change major equipment lines, and we are talking many magnitudes of scale smaller...
Remember that the Imperium still has Warships many thousands of years old still in service despite their obsolesence.
My problem with the "old Pre-Heresy" style Dreadie, is that is very similar to the new E40k style...what happened to all the cool Dready models from Sm1/SM2- Furies/Chucks etc. ?Sae goes for the "Pre-Heresy" Land Raider which looks suspiciously like the new e40k version...what about the intermediate Mk1 from olden SM1 days? FW had a great opportunity to do something really different...and blew it IMHO.

Hi!
It makes sense that Grey knights would have old equipment, like Jimbo states, they dont jst phase stuff out on day to the next. Remember that some titans are thousands of years old, same as spaceships. The titans "holding the door" to the throne room on terra have been there since the assault on the palace 10000 years ago. SO "old" is "in" ias far as the 40k background goes.

Some very goods point made all around. ?And Jimbo's logic is again, flawless. ?But all that being said, and mind you I have models of almost everything starting with SM1 on, I think it comes down to the Boyz at F/W thought "the new dreads look cool" ... ? ?And again, it is a Big old galaxy and far flung units all over the Imperium will use what's available. ?That's why I don't have a problem with models from SM1, SM2, E40K, F/W, etc., etc., being on the gaming board together ... It's a long War ...

I am sure the Adeptus Custodes must be genetically modified.
In the Horus Heresy game they had the best stats, the Blood Angels legion had something like Attack 10, Defence 9 whilst if I remember rightly the Custodes were Attack 14, Defence 14. Which when combined with the Emperor who doubled all attack and defence stats was kinda lethal.
