300 weapons in a single day??    How do you do it?

One at a time :D  No seriously: since it is only rank and file infantry it isn't that hard. Just a coat of Boltgun metal followed by a quick highlight of chainmail. It will be much worse once I have to do the friggin company markings  That, and painting the bases will be the most time consuming I think ...and not a task I look particularly forward to :O

Cheers! :)

A quick WIP pic. The marines are painted relatively quickly by spray undercoating white and washing them with a thinned down Regal Blue to bring out the detail and do an instant shading. I'm using an old Regal blue from the old hexagonal fliptop pots as the new ones have a much brighter blue pigment in them and doesn't produce a Ultramarines blue result. As previously mentioned they are then given a quick coat of Gunmetal for then guns and highlighted with chainmail. The sergeant's helmet is first painted scab red followed by blood red and a thin wash of black to bring out the detail.
Though the pic is not ideal you get the general idea with the bazoooka style heavy weapon carried on the back of one marine in each squad. Very simple if you are running low on Devastators.

Once bases have been finished the two tactical reserve companies are ready in a "gaming condition". I still need to do the company markings on the shoulder pads before they are completely finished though.  The Codex has them orange and pink but to be honest I really don't like the idea of adding anythihng pink on my Ultras! I think I'll just do the trim Scab red instead.

I plan to sand the bases tonight though I really really really HATE doing bases!    Oh, well if only the result is worth it...

Progress on the rest of the companies is a bit slow. The 9th need a bunch of vehicles and Mole Mortars. Most of the Battle Companies need Devastator squads and a few Tacticals. Also Rhinos and command squads have only been completed for very few companies. The most gruelling task of all is, that I still need to paint the company markings on ALL 7 Companies!  :O

So far only the Veteran, Terminator, Assault and Scout Companies have been completely finished. So much left to do...  :blues:

Cheers!  :)

Warmaster - that pic's terrific! Iconic, even! It's all that Epic is about! Put it on your site - it'd make a great banner!

Hi,

Looking good there WMN, maybe you could say that they operate from a planet covered entirely by a few inches of water. It'd save you doing any extra to the bases. :p  :D

I've been finishing bases on a whole load of Orks today and painting some details onto my Titans. I've also added a few more pages to my website, which I shall be uploading and unveiling this weekend (hopefully) after I've done a final proof-read.

Cheers,
Freshmetal

I like how they look. Seems the base color would not be too bad to paint. But the guns...

Anyway, they look good.

Sweet stuff WMN!

Well, after 5 months at sea I am offcially on leave for two whole weeks. Sweeet.... ?My priorities are to:

* Finish off my IG Army's Artillery and Superheavy Companies
* Finish off my three WIP Warlord Titans
* Drive my 1965 Austin Healey MkIII Sprite convertable. ?A lot.
* Play with kids
* Surf the www (ie be able to visit here daily not monthly!)
* Be with wife and life patner

Doing them in that order is my preference but not good for domestic harmony so we'll see what actually gets done :D

BTW I finally got hold of the EA Rulebook today and Issues 1 and 2 of the Fanatic Mag. ?No minis available though so hopefully I'll be able to get some at the GW Games Day Oz later this month.

Cheers!

Hmmm... Wannabe Space Marines.... Somehow this got me thinking of the "Spice Marines" ....Wasn't it GZG who did those as sort of a joke?

Cheers! :)
