It's tankless and heats water on demand, I guess the Europeons will be more familar with it than us Yanks becasue I never heard of it unitl I saw it go in the house, but was told it was very common in Europe.

Not THIS European.... and believe it or not, we DO use hot water here - winter is very cold due to the darned humidity which gives us broiling summers....

Very cold? As in compared to the equator, perhaps.  :p  How often does it snow in there?  :;):

As for the water heating system, never seen one like it before. But you'd think there'd still be separate pipes for hot & cold water so that whenever there's flow in the hot water pipe the system is activated? Just to avoid situations like this.

I will now rise to the defence of Maltese 'cold'.  :p

We have had hail on at least three occasions in the past 70 years.

So there.  :p

Seriously, though, our problem is that 8 degrees C here feels a lot colder than 2 degrees up North or anywhere - it's the humidity which gets to you. Try it...  :p

If you really want damp cold you need to visit Northern Ireland
So I 'try it' every year

'Instant' water heaters are the rage at the moment, especially the gas boiler versions, I've never came across that particular problem though, they usually switch on with any flow at all.

Anyhow, hot water or not, congrats on the new aquisition CC

I will remain quiet on the "cold" front. We think it is cold when it drops to 45 degrees.  :D

What can I say, we are spoiled here in SoCal!

I've seen that style of water system in England. I haven't spent enough time there to know how common they are though.

I wish I only had to suffer through the temperature getting down to 2 degrees Celsius in winter.  :p
