Tas, the base is very simple - the model is second hand, and was based with some fine sand glued to the base. I painted the lost black, drybrushed it, and added a few clumps and tufts of static grass with PVA glue. :D See, no cat litter this time round....

Thanks for the tips V

I'm playing around with the basing on the Raptor packs and will post more pics when complete

FOUNDRY MINIATURES

Hi all,
I just received my order of a range of 28mm Western outlaws and lawkeepers and others from the Foundry. Comments:
1 - the model characters are excellent - very characterful, splendidly detailed, excellent proportions - no Ogryn-type muscles, nicely-proportional weapons etc.
2 - the models are very well-cast, the onlt defect being some flash which is easy to remove.
3 - extremely fast delivery (UK-Malta 1 week) and excellent packaging.
4 - I ordered 4 blisters (good prices too, 6-7 models on foot per blister) and got 6! I was not charged for these, and one of them is certainly a new release - they could be freebies; but if they made a mistake, I won't mind paying to keep them, even though they have nothing to do with the West. One is a blister of highwayman types, the other a very large orc with 3 snotling-like creatures (1 hiding in a jug, one very evidently female, one acting as lookout) and what looks like a 15mm-tall T-Rex! I guess I've found my smallest Kaiju yet:p

And now for the down side:
they sent me a poster absolutely packed with pics of different models they produce - it's printed on both sides, with 8 sections per side, and around 40 different models per section! And this is JUST the West range!!!! They have several other historical and fantasy and sci fi ones!

Wheeee!
Now please excuse me, but what looks very much like an Su-27 has just flown overhead to land ??? :D

FOUNDRY WESTERN TYPES AND FRIENDS
Hi all ,
the excitement over the Su27 having died down (it landed at Luqa, followed by an An124 transport - I think they're going to display it somewhere and stopped in transit. Wife was lucky enough to be passing by the airport and watch it land.

Anyway - the still-to-be-confirmed freebies were actually an ogre and orclings, and three cutthroats. To give you an idea of the quality, here's a pic of (left to right) a cutthroat, a Wild West preacher, and Buffalo Bill Cody himself.  :D

FOUNDRY CUTTHROAT

Here's the Cutthroat again, fast becoming my favourite. I'm almost scared to paint him!
Points of note:
Excellent proportion
Characterful pose - and scowl
Not a weapon in sight (makes a change; although I guess he's pacing a Man o'War's deck  :p )

Cheers all. End of plug!

Nice looking minis. Judging from his attitude the preacher is probably related to one in a Finnish comic strip. When some drunks broke the cross on top of the church he made them act as a stand-in (stand on the church roof with legs together and arms spread).  :p

WHFB CHAOS MARAUDERS

Hi all,
these 4 types are for the Chaos Path to Glory campaign I'm taking part in (along with the Minotaur I posted pics of recently). Their painted skin has given them a name:  they're the Chalk Warriors of the Army of the Mad, followers of (unusually for me, at least in WHFB) Khorne.

Well whadday know, the old notablog is back! Huzzah!
First model completed for ages now - just a single base of Juggernaughts - not brilliantly painted at all, but fun enough. Although the banners look a bit like blackboards...  :p

Van, they look good to me. I hadn't thought about the banners looking like blackboards until you mentioned it. :p

Looks Good to me ! All mine (3 Dets.), are various metallics with transfers or hand painted icons on the banners.
