Since there's no way I'll finish the thingies I'm working on in time for the comp, I hereby reveal Da sekret projict. Namely, Death Knights chapter command group. So far nothing is painted. I converted a plastic Rhino to a Damocles and tried to change the Chapter Master's bolter to a Bolter-Meltagun with moderate success. Pics can be found here.
I'm actually quite pleased with the Damocles. The radar has 11 parts which, to me, is quite an achievement. I found out there's much you can do with some sprues, plasticard and a sharp knife. ?

looks great Mojarn, I'd have voted for it...

AAAAARRRRGGGGGHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!

why won't the link work for me. I love looking at other peoples conversions..

And it is indeed amazing how easy it is to make things look good with a bit of effort. I just wish more people would persevere. Tthe more people that try , the more ideas we can get.

I just don't have any large axe heads, hammers or maces in my bitz box. What would you suggest would be a good sprue to get 25 of these from?

The previous Chaos Warrior sprue was good - I've built a couple of Warrior Great Weapons with that sort of bitz, and they look in scale with the Marauders - I'll see if I can dig the ones out I converted when I get home and put a pic on here.

Other than that, there's the axe-head and hammer-top on the Dwarf sprue for the Champion, or the metal chaos Halberds which would work.

Maybe yahoo! is acting up again? Several times in the past I've been unable to access other people's pics and got a variety of strange errors. Then the problem just went away.  ???

Anyway, thanks for kind comments. And apologies for the dark picture; there just isn't natural light up here right now, the flash was too bright and the table lamp was barely sufficient.  :(

About 20% through painting the Banshee. I really dig the way the helmet and scarf came out, since I managed to execute a decent blending (for my first blending attempt ever it is quite AN achievement).
Helmet was painted Red Gore, highlighted in the middle with Blood Red (all edges too), then a finer highlight of Blood Red/Bad Moon Yellow 1/2 mix was applied to upper edges and finely in the middle, finally topped off with a pure Bad Moon Yellow highlight painted in a very, very fine manner. To blend the colours together, Blood Red was layered over in the places of too stark contrast.

Scarf was painted with old Regal Blue and highlighted with Enchanted blue. Mid-shades were then created with layering Enchanted Blue.

Bodysuit will be painted with a Chaos Black/Regal Blue mix and the armor will be plain black with gloss varnish on top.

Began painting the bodysuit. As I expected, it does look differently then the armor will.

Guess what, ETA for new PC is within next 24 hours!

On the bad side, looks like I caught some cold. Ouch.

Thanks Dysartes - they look really cool.
I was 90% convinced after seeing your suggestion but 100% convinced after seeing the photo.

I've looked on GW online store and can no longer see the old Chaos Warrior spreus (sprue B IIRC). Therefore I will have to ring up mail order or check out ebay.

The only difficulty in ringing up mail order is working out what else I need to buy to make postage worthwhile. Decisions decisions!!

Cheers

James

Whuile you have them on the phone I don't suppose you could ask them if they've got the BFG plastic cruiser weapons spure for sale seperately. They're available as a seperate entry in the UK online store but when you try to order them they turn up in your shopping cart as "Item not available"  ???

I've continued work on the second Pocket Battleship and the three Battlecruisers for BFG. The Battleship is more or less the shape I want it but it needs a bunch of detailing. The Cruisers are coming along nicely but still a way to go: Only the Prow, Spine, weapon decks and bridge have actually been assembled. Still they got a nice "fat" feel to them when compared to the standard Cruisers.

I also primed some Stormblades, Executioners and Ragnarok Tanks black. The two first types are for my Tech Guard army and the last one for the Death Korps of Krieg.

Cheers! :)

I havent posted on this thread in a while but latest edition of Fanatic mag appeared through the door today & it features an article with deail photos of all thenew Command pieces for IG, Orks & SMs.
Thus I guess I can say that today I've been painting up some IG command figures without getting into too much trouble with the boss :blues:
Some of these little guys are VERY nice models. The faces on the bare heads could have done with a little more detail but since the majority of the figures are wearing gas masks this is overcome & i really like the set.

The Banner Bearers are even getting me fiddling about with the much dreaded freehand work!

No pics at the moment I'm afraid as I'm going up to Nottingham next week & I'm going to give Fanatic First refusal for the photos :blues:
