I found that the NavWar/H&R infantry are actually better than GHQ. I use (*cough* will use!) GHW tanks and H&R infantry. GHQ Infantry are very static and the poses are pretty bad.

Ok, so i now wait with a little less excitemnet for my first package of GHQ infantry to arrive.... it seems they get little support from around here! Obviously, I'll let you all know what I think, when the package (aka small crate..) arrives  :sulk:

On a brighter note, The SU122's are done. Not meant to be anything outstanding, but pretty good & effective gaming standard, seeing as I'm literally going to be painting hundreds of vehicles like this. Pics on my Blog.

Most of the 6mm guys I know use GHQ vehicles and Adler infantry, in large part because of the greater variety of poses, as well as being cheaper.
Good to hear of success with the Skytrek SU122, looking forward to seeing it.

Main force (figurehead) 1/285s are pretty interesting.  Molded in groups, and generally figures keeping a "low profile."  But nice detail.  I generally don't like the GHQ infantry, mainly because they have far more troubles than GHQ gun-barrels.

GHQ makes great looking stuff, but my problem is they are too small for use with Epic. Save for like the Maus and E-100. I was thinking of giving my Feral Orks some more Battlewagons. Like some of the odd but cool WWI & II stuff like the A7V, Rolls Royce A/C, etc. but GHQ is too small.  Irregular has some of the same stuff but I don't know if their bigger, I know they certainly aren't as good as GHQ ...

TS,

Great job on the 122s.  Basing the entire platoon togethor will give the army an impressive look. Many rules use one vehicle (model) to represent a platoon but here you have the whole platoon.  It looks great!

Now I wonder...how your are going to base 5 vehicle platoons.   :;):

L4,

Maybe some 10mm WWII vehicles would work for Epic (aprox 8m) stuff.  Especially if you look at small vehicles like the 250 halftrack,  The M3 scout car etc. Especially some of the ugley French halftracks.

Thanks for the comments guys, really apprecaite it!

I've posted a couple more entries now, with pictures of an SU122 from GHQ for a direct comparison, as well as my thoughts on the two ranges and my painting experiences from both.

I'm learning a lot already about what I want to be doing with my painting at the moment, so thanks for viewing & sharing this with me

TS,

I tell you this with all honesty.  The GHQ SU122 is far superior.

It looks striking and I thought the other ones were very good.  I think the details took the washing better to relaly bring it out.

I read your concern that the GHQ vehicels will suck time away because the detail will require attention.  But if both of these minia were painted the same way, in teh same amount of time, then I say use GHQ

My humble two cents...

Cheers mate,

They were painted inthe same way, but the GHQ piece did take considerably longer to paint & I think thats why I preferred the Skytrex piece. I can see myself achieving the numbers I want using them, but I cant see myself painting any faster to get the GHQ ones done in anything like the same time frame. I'm still thinking on it - the GHQ piece is definitely the better model & the better end product, I just didn't enjoy painting it, for exactly those reasons  :upside:
