A platoon of Brit TOG*2 (Mid-War Monsters) tanks along with a few additions for my 8th Army "Desert Rats" infantry (rifle/mg team, a few 3" mortars, and two command teams).

Neither. I used all metallic paints, liberally thinned - bronze base coat, brass and gold "camo", then mud ink, with touches of green and black ink for relief on the larger ones. Simple and quick, but effective.

I saw the whole line of those MVGs online.  Nice work on those ... rather "unique" designs. And great looking Rats Chap L !!  Did the TOGs ever get deployed ?

The S.O.G, the Special Operations Group(cover name Studies and Observations Group, to cover it's real intent)was activated in Jan. '64 in RVN. Composed mostly of US ARMY Special Forces, ie. Green Berets, plus Navy SEALS, USMC Force Recon and USAF Spec Ops ... So I was thinking of that !  :D   But there were also Special Operations Detachments !!    When I post pics, those who know about Vietnam may see some things they recognize ...
