Have you ever had one of those days where you have great, big plans of what you're going to acheive? ?And then it doesn't quite work out? ?I've had one of those days today! ?My day of 'Green Stuffery' didn't produce as much as I'd hoped. ?In fact either I'm out of practice with Green Stuff, or it should be renamed 'bloody difficult to work with stuff.' ?

I started out on the Objective with the Damocles. ?I added some ruined wall from plasticard, and I then planned to add a couple of Marines on 'look-out'. ?At this point, I was feeling inspired. ?'Wouldn't it be cool to convert one of the Marines so he was kneeling behind part of the wall? ?Shouldn't be too difiicult.

Oh, how wrong I was...

After much cursing, dropping and losing my first attempt, more cursing, and some more sticking and gluing, I finally got a Marine who looks like he's somewhere near to kneeling. ?Or, in this case, squat-running... ?Anyway, here's the finished result, the green stuff represents little hillocks (well, it makes sense in my head - and I need something to use that excess mixed GS on before it dries!):

I then made the second objective, for which I'd made the heavy servitor (and sliced open my finger) yesterday. ?I thought it would make quite a characterful objective for an Iron Hands army to have a Venerable Dread being recovered by an Iron Father under support fire from his command squad. ?Here it is, and you can see the minis this time!

Finally, I carried on with my 'secret' project. ?Two parts of this in particular require quite a bit of GS sculpting, and on one part especially this took a lot longer than I'd anticipated - infact I couldn't finish it today, hopefully tomorrow... ?But I got one part done - it's a dark pic, but you should be able to see what it is... ?can you tell what this project is going to be yet? ?:;):

I also did a bit of GS sculpting on something which I also hope to finish tomorrow, and will post pics then... till then, enjoy!

Sorry to hear about your rough day, fire. Nice work on the objectives.

Your "secret project" looks like someone in shackles.

Back again!  Thank you all for your encouraging comments.  I'm glad you like my conversions, I do hope that I can inspire some of my fellow 'EpiComm-ers'  :D  the way I get inspiration from seeing all your minis.  DS, I guess yesterday didn't go as bad as I'd felt, I did get a lot done.  I suppose I simply hadn't set myself particular realistic targets that I could achieve in the time I had yesterday.

Today I actually managed less, as a few things kept popping up which took me away from mini making & painting.  I still managed to do a few things though (no Epic today, I'm afraid!).  Firstly, I carried on with the bit of my 'secret project' which I'd been working on yesterday.  Here he is:

I converted this scout using kneeling Catachan gunner legs.  I sculpted bum and jock-strap style armour  :o0  like on the proper Scout legs, and tried to get the boots to look the same.  This was a really fiddly job, I need to go back and smooth it out, but it'll do seeing as when it's on the finished objective/diorama you probably won't be able to see all the details!  It tried to get detail picks to show my sculpting, but they didn't come out that well - I'll try again monday!

I also did this.  18 months ago, I'd just got the new version of the 40k rules, and was really inspired by the stuff near the back about Kill Team.  So I decided to make one myself, which I decided to be Tech Guard (probably because I had several Marine tank driver torsoes with the Ad Mech symbol on, and wasn't likely to use them otherwise!).  I started them, then got distracted by tons of other things (*cough* Epic *cough*).  I decided to dig them out and chip away a bit more at them.  So here's my take on Tech Guard, what do you think?

I'll post more pics if you want to see them.

So that's your lot for this week!  I'll be back for more painting on Monday, when hopefully I'll finish off the Marine/Apothecary objective, and make a start on those two Warhounds.  Until then, enjoy!

Thank you again for the kind comments!  I'm a sucker for flattery  :;):  so here, as requested, are some more pics of the Kill Team, to show off their detailing:

As you can see, I used Cadian, Sentinel Pilot, Marine Auspexes and Catachan parts on them.  The Las Carbines are Cadian lasguns with the barrel from Catachan Lasguns.

I may come back to these and add rebreathers.  Either way, they'll go back in to a box and probably wait another 18months before I paint them!    And I think the chances of me ever getting round to making a full army of them are slim - you've seen my work list!

Nice work Firestorm - and is that a techmarine axe? The Adeptus want to know where you stole it from  :p

Unless they're really a tech-guard kill team, of course - can't make out the colours yet.... :p :D

They are indeed Tech Guard, so the Mechanicus axe isn't a naughty stolen one!  :D

As for colours, it's because they're on covert-ops on the world Ante Primor  :;): and has nothing to do with the fact I've so much stuff to paint it'll be months before I do these...  :p

Ah, clever...
I've heard that this world has seen far more troops than have been on Armageddon during all three invasions combined!

Tech Guard eh? I expect them to be ready for inspection in no time, then!  :/
