i embarked on a quick experiment. The oriogonal suggestion is to use pink or blue straws for the real Tzeentech horror approach. I used what was in the cupboard.



lowered quickly to about 1cm above a candle flame and spun for 3 seconds. created oddly neat bends. adding a bit of wobble creates more organic/messier joints. too much and the flame melts through the straw.



much easier to do one and then cut it off the straw. cutting it to length first will result in mistakes and singed fingers.

strung a few of these and some small cut pieces of straw along a needle. other end of needle embedded in a cork so can hold safely. slowly moved up and down body with candle flame.
small amount of presure required to ensure pieces melted together. plastic glue might be just as easy.
some legs repositioned at this time, one accidentally removed. try not to poke yourself with the needle.

model removed from needle. loose parts brushed off. hot needle used to melt eyeholes. no attempt at a mouth.
posture decided, foot resoftened to allow a flat contact with base.

glued to a 20mm washer and left to dry.

for five minutes aimless work, I'm pretty happy.
If i actually make an army of the buggers will need to work out a face method, and will probably use multiple size straws. very very fast and easy though. Can I put a request in for an epic demon list including mega-spawn?

the green stuff on the left was made by snipping a straw into narrow strips and heating rather more carefully. All the wibbly bits were cut to length and welded together using the candle.

I've also been using hot molten straw as a sticky filler - notably for one wobbly model with a warped base. it worked, squaring the bottom off and gluing a washer on to help with the center of mass.
then I dropped it.

I do like these tricks with the straws. I think some Epic scale demon terrain might come out of this.

I believe the green thing is actually on what is traditionally known as the "right".

Those look pretty neat - ingenious concept. I'm totally stealing this some time.
