As already mentioned; don't depend heavily on Strike Cruisers.  The barges are fierce and when matched with a good escort fleet, you have plenty of devastation to lay out.  The SC's become too impotent once they take enough damage to be crippled.  SC's should be used a supplemental carriers to support Thunderhawk-ordnance from the Barge(s).  Thunderhawks are great because they can intercept and stay on the board half the time and then make a run of their own on enemy vessels.
The barrage fire from the Barges will wither puny Eldar holofields and you have better range then they do.  You just have to maneuver well and not let them make their speed outclass you.  Study some classic naval strategies and use your fleet such; concentrate your fields of fire and have you formations support one another.  protect your Barges with the T-hawks and escorts. When it comes time for time for a coup de grace, a tandem flyby of two Barges catching the enemy between them will finish off any prize.
