Hi!
Well, I think that the pricing policy is partly based on the points cost - this is something that upsets the 40K players a lot. The average Eldar vessel is almost twice the points cost of an Ork, and so a player will buy half as many.
Obviously, GW deny this strategy, but it does seem to hold across a number of game systems.

I was trying to avoid to say just that, but yes, I fully agree, given their track record that is the most likely reason.

-Having just got some of the new Epic Eldar at GamesDay, I have to say I'm very impressed- the detailing is very fine, quite incredible in fact... the models I got didn't have any major problems with flash, although a couple of the spines on the barrel of the Night Spinners had snapped annoyingly.. a bit of cursing and some superglue fixed that though.. 
They may be expensive, but I'm very pleased with what I got, and will be ordering some Falcons when they come out...
