So that would be a case of Necro-molding !?! :D I always thought most of the Gropos stuff was pretty good !

The new Mongoose game "War Without End" is a delayed release, because their 28mm Moderns game has taken precedence.

They are using the AOG 10mm mini molds that were previously used for GROPOS.

Ahhh. So WWE is going to be 10mm? That is a bit disappointing. I want to like this game, but the minis are not inspiring, and rules seem fairly standard from the introduction. Now if it is 10mm I am even less likely to pick it up.

I must admit that I am not wild about Mongoose. I want to like them, but I have the SST rules which I find strange and counter intuitive and a little bland (sorry Andy C!). The minis for this are also uninspiring.  :(

I'm with you on that count C/S...

And in my case I have to admit I'm not a fan of either their new B5 sculpts... which look totally idiotic IMO... or of their casting process.

The last few ships I picked up from Mongoose were heavily pitted fresh out of the mould. At this stage of the game I've decided if I can't get old AOG casts I'm just not going to bother.

About the only Mongoose game that I do like, is B5 Call to Arms. Even then, the ships can be hit or miss - my personal favourites are the Narn, Drazi and Abadai (sp?) - but since the ship designs are essential JMS ideas, Mongoose gets limited credit/blame.  :D

Ok, I've combed the Mongoose site and can't find any reference to the "War without end" game. Could someone post a link?

As for the SST, I have the rules and likewise find them  strange. The "no morale" rules and the firing rules are strange as are the unit cohesion rules. The action-reaction system is clever but why on earth does it have to be combined with IGO-UGO?  ???

OK. Since the game has been put back, there is little info on it (leading to a worry about exactly how long it will be until we see this!).

Anyway, check out Signs and Portents EZine issue 31.

I would have thought you might be able to use some of the GROPOS figs for CAV Cybershadow...

I personally kind of like both the Narn and the Earth Force GROPOS figs... especially the VTOLs... but the Centauri and Minbari do nothing for me admitedly.

And while I'm thinking of it the GROPOS minis are mostly still available from the Agents of Gaming webstore:

http://www.agentsofgaming.com/ogp.htm

And if it's anything like the B5 ships they'll be slightly cheaper than the Mongoose versions.

I have to admit I have a hard time understanding how the heck AOG can keep selling their stock since the licence is now owned by Mongoose.

The only thing I can think of is the owner personally "bought" all his remaining stock and is now selling it as a private individual...

Which means he's competing directly with his employer on this one since he's now working for Mongoose if I understand things right.

*shrug*

The 10mm choice took me right out as well. I think we are in agreement about the rest as well.

Thanks, CS! Whatever it will be I hope it's not an expanded scale version of SST.

EDIT: First con: the use of d6.  :(

Maksim,

If you started a 10mm group I would definitively invite Spaceman Spiff.

His work with the Mechwarrior stuff is simply amazing.

Spacemanspiff's Work

Wow, that guy's a genius.  It took me a good while to even recognise half the Mechwarrior stuff and I own most of them!!!
