Hey guys just wanted to report I ran my first game of "Bag the Hun" a WWII arial combat game by Two fat lardies.

BTH Link

It was a lot of fun and the carnage level was high, which was most of the fun. ?

We had Spitfires and Hurricanes dueling over the England with Me 110s and Me 109s. ?

Several aircraft were dropped from the sky or exploded into a fireball. ?

We even had a rockie spitfire pilot dropp his first two He 111. ?Man a sustained burst can reall hurt when you get on someones tail. ?

This was a demo game so sorry I didn't have pics. ?Maybe next time.

Sounds great! I love a dogfight like that - not too complex, just get on their tail and hammer them with some tracer!  I am a big fan of GMT's Down In Flames Series myself

Did you play with minis or counters?  What scale minis?

I see from the link there was a BoB Campaign supplement coming too!
Time to drag out the movie once more

Great. How does that play? The rules seem very simplistic and 'pick up and play' but I dont know if the game suffers through the lack of detail.

Thanks.

Sounds like a good time for those who played.

Was this with minis?

Does it use a 3D system like some games or is it 2D?

Lots of questions...I like

Lets see where to begin.  We used Minis.  We have a well established air combat group that have been using a home brewed system called Distinguished Flying cross for many years. Here is a link with some photos.
 Air Combat in Colorado

Similar to blue max you choose a manneuver and perdorm it at the same timer as every one else.  The only problem with the game is that you pretty much limited to one or two aircraft per person and resoultion is a bit slow.  I find myself lucky if I get a shot off one someone.

As such the group has a execellent collection of minis and telescopic bases with poles that allow the aircraft game to be 3D.  The aircarft are actually 1/200 scale.  It is my intention to buy 1/300 aircraft.

As for the rules they are a very good beer and pretzel game that will have fun resolution if not a lot of complex moves.

The manuevers very simple.  There are only 8 of them.  In essence a player controls a group of aircarft, in our case a section of 2 planes.  But I think the game is simple enought that a person could run many more.  By using the card initiative groups move and when another card is drawn the group fires.  It was not hard getting near soemone.  It was harder to get on there rear and making the "get on their tail" test.  Then waiting and hoping your fire card came up before the enemy moved away.

Because there is no hidden info the game would make an excellent solo game.

The rules are very opened ended and I made up many "jugdement calls"  on the spot when I got asked "Can I do this?"

Sure why not was usually my answer.

I hope that helps Cybershadow

In the end I think I will get the additional suppliments.

I have done that more times then I care to admit.

Read the rules, seem to understand, go to a con and play a demo game, then return home and start over.  :80:

And when you learn the rules better, now only is it a new game, but sometimes it is an easier game.  :;):

I do nto know if this is where he is getting his from, but GHQ makes some very nice ones at 1/285th and it is hard to tell a differance between that and 1/300th.
