Hello guys,

Just filling you in with my latest gaming expirence.  One of the guys at are club has a set of WWII air combat rules called Distinguished Flying Cross.  I have played once or twice, but I'm just getting the hang of the movement charts.  Very simlar to Blue Max if anyone id familar with that.  

So for this game I actually lined up on a target that I was planning to shoot!  Normally anyhting that comes my way was purely by accident.  

3 P-51s faced off against a FW 190 long nose and a Me 262 fet fighter, man can that thing fly, They were protecting two HE 177s heavy bombers.

Man those bombers were nasty.  Do not approach the rear of a bomber with a 20mm cannon facing you.  It is not fun.

In the end ther Germans managed to break through despite some creulling punishmnet put into the bombers.  

The Me 262 got one P-51 and the other were damaged.  The FW 190 was also damaged and sent home.  No one got near the Me 262.

I've never played it, but I've heard that DCF is a decent game.

Sounds fun, Commissar - wow, 177s and 262s! Not a force to be taken lightly - all you needed was an Ar234!
I wonder - I know it never happened (except in an old Warlord comic annual!) , but have you tried pitting the Gloster Meteor against the 262?

PS - I never thanked you for the link to that cool enginseer in TM armour, did I? Pardons! :(  :D

Early Jet on Jet action.  

I'll ask the guys if we can arrange it.  I know they have played Mig alley action.  Man the Mig 15 is one sweet plane.  

If I had to play a Air campaign it would most certainly be the Battle of Britiain. I so want a Hawker Hurricane to blast He 111s apart.  

It would be fun.  

The 262 was fast and deadly.  The 30mm cannon just tears any other fighter apart.  It's only real weakness is that it can turn very tight and has a limited fire arc.  But it is perfect for the hit and run style air combat.

I see want we can do.

Hi CC,

Your eccelectic gaming experiences are very similar to mine own diverse spread!
Sounds like a good game.

I play a bit of Down in Flames when I can, which is a card based WW2 aerial action game by GMT.  Fast paced and fun!  Highly recommended and good for solitaire play too

Hmmmm... I think I was playing the Pacific theater version several years ago.  Zero's versus Wildcats is not a fair fight.

I was much happier when they let me pull out a Hellcat or P38.  Then we shifted theater to P38 v Bf110.  ouch.

I liked the system, but the flight sticks took some getting used to, as far as reading how high your opponent was compared to you was concerned.

I'd like to find a copy of the rules again, to use for late piston/early jet dogfights (WW2/Korea).  Got any suggestions?
