Hello guys,

I played my first FOW tourney this past weekend.  Got to play 3 games, my 3th, 4th, and 5th game with FOW.

I won 2 of the 3 games and would have had the first If I just managed to roll a 3+ to get the unit unpinned for 4 turns in a row. :down:  

Ah lady luck what a fickle mistress.

Still not bad for a newbie which means I must have been cheating because I don't know all the rules.  :D    

My US Armored Rifles (Mech infantry...Legion 4 would be so proud)

I played againts Panzergrenadiers with Panthers and Jagpanzers IVs in the first game.  Took part in a training mission with the All American 82nd airborne for the second.  Lastly for the third I faced German Grenadiers with 2 Jagtigers in a all forest board.

The MVP of the match was my 2 M10s tank destroyers.  They destroyed 3 Panthers, 2 Shermans, and 1 Jagtiger.  

The sad part of my army was my Shermans.  I just still haven;t fifured out how to play with them.  For ceratain it is not taking on other tanks.  

I learned a lot, had fun, and saw some excellent painting.

Your M10s knocked out two Shermans? ???  Nothing worse than losing tanks to friendly fire.

The two Shermans were knocked out during the "Training" against the US Airborne troops.  They had a platoon of Shermans supporting them.

Primach,

overall I like the rules.  I think it has good flavor for the nations and units, but the best things is that one one arm dominates the game.  Infantry, tanks, Guns all have a very important part to play in the game.

Now it will never be a die hard simulation, but it is fun and somewhat historical.  

What I'm more worried about is whether all games will biol down to the big assualt when my infantry clash with my opponents infantry.  

Unlike Epic there is usually no comming back from a failed assault.  So I wonder how the larger tactical flavor will play out when I have more games under my belt.

Nice! :D Seems you did fine there. Congratulations :cool:

For shermans, I have found (I am testing an american armoured list ATM with 10 shermans, 1 mech inf plattoon and 2 armoured AA vehicles) that they do well using.... SMOKE! I have faced loads of stuff that turn my shermans into pieces of rubble, so I smoke most stuff down until I can overrun them in assaults. 88s, tigers, SU-85.... all those are extremely vulnerable to smoke. Smoke makes them move so their ROF goes down to hell (1, in most cases) or prevents them from shooting at all if they are immobile (like 88s). I usually shot half my tanks at targets and then use the other half to smoke down the remnants so that I do not get that much return fire.

The heroes of my force so far have been the non-sherman troops: they kill most of the enemy stuff, but that is only because the shermans get most of the enemy's attention and fire.

As a side note, muy force is not really americans, but built around american-equiped republican Spanish serving under the French. Just FYI ;) My win-lose ratio is much qwoprse than yours right now, so you should be really proud of yourself! :D

I agree don't actually fire shells always fire smoke.  I just keep forgetting. ? :p

Just like you the heros of my army are not the tanks.
