Hi!

I've followed this game since it began. I have been tempted on many occasions to buy into it.

But given the scale I like to buy stuff, 6mm is more cost effective for me. :;):

Very popular here in NZ (where it was designed), very GW in its marketing appearance etc... I might be doing it at some point soon as I have non-gaming friends who are keen to give it a whirl. I have a few other things to complete first, including a a dozen titans.

Hi!

Yes, their marketing is very effective and their product presentation top notch.

Its a big game in Oz, and pretty much the biggest non GW game around for popularity.

Good luck CC! :)

You can easily play FoW in 6mm, although I'm sure Battleground won't thank me for saying this.  :D  Just use cm instead of inches and you're all set, although if you want to be _really_ accurate you can divide all distances by three.

I gave Scott Elaurant some advice on hardware availablity & stuff when he wrote the unofficial FoW army lists for Finnish army.  :;):

Oddly enough (considering comments in another thread) I'm just in the process of putting together an Italian force for a North Africa campaign.

And in terms of sales here where I live it's probably the second largest miniature line after GW's stuff and slightly ahead of Confrontation.

Primach,

I see no problem in using 6mm figures to play FOW.  I think it would work rather well.  Many suggest simpy converting inches to CM.  Of course I think it would be cool to use 6mm and still use inches to get a feeling of scale in the game.  The artillery template may still mave to be scaled down though.  :D

The game is fun and relatively quick to pick up.  There a lot of unique rules for the units that I think add fun and character to the armies.  I had a blast using Russians this past weekend.  The Kommissar shot his own men to motivate the others.  He was having a contest with the Germas to see you would kill more Soviets.

I have an American Late War Amored Rifle company.  I had it commissioned but you can see it here.

Lou's Americans

I think the Italians book just convinced my freind to pick up the game.  I running the demo to show him the game mechanics.

With all honesty I was surpised how popular the Italians seem to be.  Once guy at the store is cleaning house with the new Italain army and he loves them.

I'd start playing if there was any US distribution support!

My FLGS is unable to get any product!

Played quite a bit at first, then they went and redid all the rule books right after we bought them. Killed the interest in the area very quickly.

Based on the original American book, I have a Mid-War Tank Company, Armored Rifle Platoon, and some support platoons. I have been told my army is no longer legal based on the "new" books. Too bad, do not plan on buying much more with no one playing.

Hi!

I have heard this, but I dont like games that are made for one scale and "supposedly" can accomodate 6mm.

I like games design primarily for 6mm. I find they are more in line with I want.  :;):

Hi!

Thats the thing. I dont want to "convert" or "Adapt" anything to play 6mm. The design philosophy behind this game and others like it is not the mass effect or feel of 6mm.

That has more to do with game than figure scale. If a game has been made for company level (like FoW is)  you won't get a mass combat feel. But it has nothing to do with figure scale.

Hi,

FoW is popular in my area, but I don't want to invest in 15mm WWII armies when I have them already in microarmor scale. I don't want to have to buy and paint new armies.

It's not a bad game, but the game mechanics are very similar to 40k although the company is much more gamer-friendly.

Shalom,
Maksim-Smelchak.

Hi!

That is my sentiment too. I am dedicated to 6mm and already own 6mm. It has the mass appeal and a good cost to figure ratio. Also, I'm not too fond of 15mm...  :;):
