One thing that irks me about the gears is why did they have to invent new, pitiful under 2cm calibre KwKs for the gears? Why not just use the 2.8cm SPzB if the 3.7cm gun was too big? And if someone is going to say something about the shortage of tungsten I say skip it. GK has already multiplied the industrial potential of Germany several times over so adding in a little tungsten wouldn't hurt anymore.

Recoil, maybe?  I'm pretty sure the 2.8cm had a fierce recoil.  I know I would have been planning on at least the 2cm KwK, like the armored cars.

note that my gears are carrying a flak38 as their light rifle, and one of the guys wants to put the long 8.8cm guns on a Gear... I'd be happy with a PaK40, myself, but some people gotta have their 88s.

Considering the 2.8 was mounted on quite light manportable wheeled  mount I'm sure a gear could've handled it, especially with some kind of recoil damper. More types of guns = more different kinds of ammmo = even more diffficlut logistics, although I admit logistics are probably not the first concern of the game developers of Gk world.  :)

PAK 38 would've been quite enough for me, at least in mid war while in early war SpzB 2.8 would've been fine.

They're in the "Fighting Vehicles of the Modern Age" (DP9-515) book. They just have the double guns on the side weapon mounts normally holding the arms & armamanet.

Thank you for the info!!! But then, how are this turrets controlled? i thought they were like bomber turrets, id est, that they were plexiglass turrets with a guy's torso inside and the like. Are they supposed to be computer-controlled, or is the targetingsystem inside the gear's toso in any other way? (did i tell you that i had been "playing" with an spanish 8.8 and a british bofors lately :)?)

Well, I should have the whole package of GK books in the next couple weeks, and then the conversion process starts in earnest.

I also finally received my W&N Series 7 brushes, so hopefully I can get a good paintjob on my Kerberos... Just need to find someone to make the Kerberos decals for me.

Hmmm... Well, I guess I'll have to add him to the list.  Griffon Games, Dom's Decals, and now Decal Express...  I'll have to finish drawing the sketch, though

Also got a surprise email from the Canadian Post office, saying that they would be shipping my package.  Followed the link, and it should be arriving the 26th.  Very good customer service...  I wish the USPS was that good with non-Registered Mail.

Um, the same way the normal armament is controlled?

AFAIK all gears have a pilot and a gunner. Just make some upgrades to the fire control SW of the computator to handle the greater speed of aircraft and you're all set, I guess.

On M/S's 6mm SFWG site, a gamer, mentioned (jokingly ?!) if the Nazis had Mechas at Stalingrad, it would have turned out different ...  Isn't that what you boyz are doing here !? :D I said, based on everything I know, if the Nazis had Mechs so would everybody else ! Hence that's what you troopers are doing ... Yes ?  :D

yep, that's roughly the idea, L4.

Although, if the Germans had developed personal armor like the Kerberos Panzerjaegers, ... that could have been something interesting indeed.  Kursk would have been very different (and we're going to see just how different in 2009 or '10, when Images of the Lost Battalion hits the Big Screen).

L4, the next time mecha-boy pipes up, hit him with the line from Dirtside 2:  If you're going to stand 30+ feet tall on the modern battlefield, you might as well paint 'target' on yourself in neon letters.  Remember, the bigger they are, the easier they are to nuke from orbit!
