Something of a change from Epic, I've played a couple of games of the new DBMM Ancients  rules and written a review of them (which by the way is being published in Slingshot - the journal of the Society of Ancients):

Thanks Markco - interesting. Where those your troops in the pic? What scale do you use? And what basing system is used in DBM and DBMM (see, I'm not familiar with either), having only a copy of DBA.

Hey V, yeah same basing as DBA, and the upcoming Field of Glory rules.

Army on the left in the picture is mine, one on the right is my mates, both in 15mm. I have several 15mm Ancient armies, and one 25mm.

Very nice Markco. Any projects in hand? I'm getting a boxful of 6mm Ancient Germans in the post today, to match my 28mm Germans. For 15mm I'm at the modern end of the scale, with 1490 Ottomans and Venetians.

I've got boxes of the plastics from Zveda and Revell and others (Medieval Burgundians waiting to be done), but no time to do them at the moment! Next on my plans is to photograph all my epic stuff and stick it on a website! :)

Wow. Slingshot! I am impressed. I am on the SoA Yahoo Group. I have been looking for a good review of DBMM. Although I dont think that I will ever play it, since I am not a fan, but I am interested. Thanks for that, and well done.

Thanks for the review. I had the rule book lying around for the last two months and didn't have enough interest to read in about the differences to DBM 3.1.

The changes sound very good to me. I hope the tournament community will adapt the rule set.

Just a quick request, Mark. When you get your advance order copy of Field of Glory, would you mind letting us know what you think and give us a brief over-view of the system. Not necessarily an 8 page review, but I am very curious about this.

It has the potential to be my second ancients set, replacing Armati second edition, but I have certain doubts.

Thanks.

Yep will do. :)

@ Morg, I think the changeover will be adopted over the next year.

The IWF (Worlds) are in Helsinki this year, and are still 3.1. However from what I've heard, it is likely to be one of the last big DBM 3.1 events (and a New Zeland team of 4 people will be there, not including myself - if I was going to Finland I'd be hunting down Hena, rpr etc for some epic games! :)). After that  it will be DBMM/FOG.

One of the relatively local Ancients tournaments this part of the world has historically had about 80+ DBM entrants, but this year hasn't even even managed the 8 to run a competition. Their DBMM was up to about 30 or so registrations though last I heard.
