After being involved with GW games for about 23 years, I actually played my 1st ever Blood Bowl game today!  Definitely fun and looking forward to playing again.  I would not say it is my favorite GW game but definitely one of their best (of course, it is not supported and not a core game, so duh!).

Orks beat down the Oomies 2-0 before the game was called due to death and injuries amongst the Oomies!  WAAAGH!

I will definitely have to pick up a boxed set and some metal miniatures.  I'm thinking maybe an Ork or Chaos/Nurgle team, thoughts and opinions?

You have a bunch of choice between bashy, finesse, and all-round teams. I like Orcs better really, though my favorite team is humans.

If you want to playtest a bunch of teams to see what fits you, go to www.fumbbl.com and create some teams there. It is as close to the TTG as you can get without pushing pewter.

I picked up an Ork team box already.  Still need the game box itself too.

I'd strongly recommend against taking a Chaos or Nurgle team if you're just starting out. At the end of the team lists section of the rulebook, there's a list of teams that are intended to be harder to use than most, either because they are a bit odd and need some clever trickery to get them to work (like Dark Elves) or because they're quite underpowered (Goblins or Halflings, for example). I tried using a Chaos team once and it's seriously weak. A starting Orc team will typically have more muscle and more finesse than a starting Chaos team. With the right mutations, an experienced Chaos team can be one of the most unpleasant teams in the game for causing casualties and mangling the opposition, but getting to that point is hard when your team sucks so egregiously at the start. I haven't tried the Nurgle team, but it's also on the list, so be wary.
