Clearly, I am never going to play Warmachine... Really, definately not... most likely...

Anyway, I wondered if I could have benefit of the experience of you guys. I am looking for some reasonably interesting and matched forces.

Mangled Metal style (a Caster and Jacks only, right?) for Cryx, Menoth and Cygnar, at 350 points. In addition, there are a couple of minis that I like, and would therefore like included (also, I hear that some Casters are better than others with Jacks, so where this is a problem let me know).

Cryx;
- Master Necrotech Mortenebra
- Leviathan
(I also like the Helldiver and Stalker, if they fit in and work with the list)

Cygnar;
- Epic Maj. Victoria Haley (or, possibly Comm. Coleman Stryker (Alt))
- Hammersmith

Menoth;
- Harbinger of Menoth
- Castigator

Any suggestions or comments?
Thanks.

Hey CS!  Welcome to the affliction... *laugh*

If you're only planning on playing 350 point games, you can't use any "Epic" casters as they can only be used in games of 750 points or more.

Yes, Epics are only for games of 750 up.

Cryx is pretty much spot on. For Cygnar, Darius would be your best bet for MM. Protectorate, Harby is kind of an odd fit as she is much better against infantry than metal. Stick to Kreoss I would say.

Khador MM favors Karchev though Vlad can also work. For the mercs, you can choose between Broadsides Bart, Madhammer or Magnus.

Ummm. I think that I understood about half of that!  :p

I didnt realise that Epic meant larger games only. I guess that means that Cygnar includes Stryker as the Caster.

What do you mean by Cryx being 'spot on' - a good choice of Caster? I just dont like the Darius model - particularly the little walking mines that look like they are from a Disney cartoon. The Harbinger is a really nice model, though. I guess that Cryx would be my force... if I ever decided to play!  :;):

Mortenebra is the jack caster for Cryx so yes, you do have it spot on. Darius does look odd but for jacks, no other caster can really make them shine. Even Karchev pales in comparison and he is THE jack caster for Khador.

Harby is a nice model but again, she's not suited for lots of jacks as her spells are more supportive of infantry.

Harbinger truly shines with infantry, but she got 10(!!!!) focus. So more than enough to power up lots of jacks. And she can make her jacks charge +2" and can dispel enemy spells/buffs (And not every game should be tournament strength/attitude). But yeah, she is best with infantry.

And you can use Epic Haley model, just tell your opponent that it is Vanilla Haley (should be quite obvious because her epic version can only be used in 750 game). I cant stand normal Skarre so I use her Epic miniature as a "proxy". Both Stryker (he can make his jacks either harder to hit or harder to harm) and Haley (she really can scramble enemies jacks) are good in Mangled Metal, no need to use "only Darius in MM".

Personally I too hate Darius model. I would convert model for him if I would use him.

I have no idea about Montebebra, has she even been released yet? But Leviathan is great jack, just dont play it like it is shooter only, throw him at your enemy and behold the damage it can do with its claw! Helldiver and Stalker are both solid choises, Helldiver can annoy your enemies and Stalker can go for the casterkill.

Thanks guys. Darius could be converted, but I would rather not have a Caster so well armoured, particularly if I have two opposing forces... not that I will play this game! *cough*

Is the non-Epic Victoria Haley a good choice of Caster? And, perhaps I will go with Harbinger as a Jack Caster. Something unusual appeals to me, even if it is not optimal.

Can anyone suggest some sample 350 point lists? Maybe I will keep half an eye on eBay for WM bargains, just in case.

pHaley is a good denial caster with her Temporal Barrier. Give her some Hunters and the usual Ironclad or Defender and she can dictate the battle most of the time.

Sure, go ahead with Harby. As my friend says, form before function so if you like the model then even if it doesn't pan out, you still ahve a model yuo like. Doesn't mean she can't work in MM. It is true that she has 10 focus and a jack can do a lot with lots of them. Not too sure what jacks of Menoth would be best with her but I would say Castigator is a good choice.

Hope you find good bargains on eBay.

I think that Haley does not have anything wrong with just jacks. Her feat gives her jacks extra attack, she can give +3ARM to one of her jacks and cast either Distrupor (cant use focus) or Scramble (enemy jack runs to random direction) to enemy jacks. And she got 7 focus, so enough for two or even three jacks.

I would use Defender and rest jacks just with melee attacks. Then advance towards enemy shooting little with Defender and upkeeping Arcane Shield (+3 ARM) to my favorite jack and try to Scramble and Distrupt enemy jacks (maybe Lancer with arc node?) and then pop the feat and beat the crap out of them.

She also have nice Temporal Barrier which annoys enemy and helps you shoot them, but I like it close and personal!

That army builder is a dangerous thing. I find myself playing around with points values and lists...

For Cryx, I currently have:
- Mortenebra
- Harbinger
- Stalker

I can then add either another Stalker, for maximum points efficiency, or a Helldiver to get my favourite Jacks in but come in 22 points under the 350 limit.

Any recommendations?

Normally bonejacks works great in pairs, so get two stalker. But nothing wrong in helldiver either. (I still have no idea of montenebra so no comment on her).

It is quite normal for many factions to get 20 or even 40 points under 350.

See, now you have me thinking about both options because I like the models, and swapping round between games. Getting... sucked... in...!

Proxy the models to see which is more effective for you. The heart of Cryx jack warfare are really the arcnodes though so having at least one of them in your list would make your caster more effective.

I will probably get four Jacks and drop either the second Stalker or the Helldiver depending on my mode.

What is an Arcnode, and what do they do? (Are those the Zombie Turkey Jacks? Not a fan of those.)
