Yes, just picked up some infantry.  They are indeed too big.  They do look pretty cool, though...

Nice pics Lord T ! Good integration of many companies models.   But I still don't "cotton" to none tactical colors !  And Carr., told ya they're too big !  But they are well done, like most of the OGRE/GEV minis.  Maybe they could be a race of evolved Hi-tech Ogryn ?! ???   Don't give me any ideas !

Nice paint jobs.  Despite the non-tactical colors, the blue and white OGRE is well done.  I always like the concept behind OGRE, but the design of the minis are showing their age.

Good point, SGT C., the game was around when I was a cadet in the late '70s !  And minis since late '80s or early'90s, IIRC ?!  Old sci-fi vs. new sci-fi !

I have always wanted to get a hold of one of the 15mm scale OGREs (about 1 foot high) and add LED lights, small electroc motors etc.  Have never found one available though...

The game is sound - I am considering redoing my ogre gev armies with baccus vs drm!

Hmm, wonder how much I could get for those old ogre (armour and infantry - never liked the infantry) models? Enough to fund the switch?

Thanks for the comments.  A word on the non-tactical paint scheme.  The Ogre miniatures book suggests that you should consider your tabletop as if it were in the 'command tank', and the figures are brilghtly colored to indicate which force they are assigned to.  While I don't necessarily like this theory... I like the bright colors.  This particular unit (the blue and white, with crosses), is of my own creation.  They are the "New Yeomen of the Ecclesiarchy" (NYE)  and are so fanatically devoted to dying in the name of their god that camoflage is simply not in their culture.  They want the enemy to know they are coming, and to fear them, and the wrath of their creator.

There is also the theory that camo would be pointless on anything as big an OGRE on a battlefield scanned by satellitees and electronics.   As a new member here, I would be interested in everyone's takes on this.  I have forces in both tactical and 'parade' colors.  Perhaps a new thread is in order.

Hi Carrington,

There's some weird scale control at the OGRE minis factory:

Epic-Armageddon: 1/250 roughly for newer vehicles & infantry

OGRE infantry: 1/250 - good match

OGRE vehicles: 1/300+ - bad match

OGREs themselves: 1/300+ - But they're robots so scale doesn't matter

So, expect the vehicles to look tiny compared to most newer 6mm sci-fi pieces. Think of true 25mm fnatasy minis next to giant 28mm, 30mm, and 32mm pieces.

Having said that, I love the game and miniatures line and have several painted armies.

Shalom,
Maksim-Smelchak.

Yes, We've discuss  the "circus colored" AFVs and Titans here many times before.  I'm "old school" and like tactical colors ... plus I've been around alot of AFVs in the past ... camo works for me, and I just can't imagine orange, red, etc. ... M113s, M60s, M1s, etc. !!  We also talked about Camo titans vs. pretty colored ... BTW, I have 3 ORGEs (Mk.s III & V and a Fencer, IIRC) all in tac colors !  Like I said, I think most ORGE/GEV AFVs fit in well with Epic ...  Big things like Titans and ORGEs, would benefit from Camo/Tac Colors, IMO ...  Always Do What Works For You !  DWWFY ! :D

I also remember a bit in the OGRE miniatures book about some OGRE AIs making specific requests about their colour schemes, and nobody refuses a multi-ton nuke toting robot! ?:p

Fot those who havent seen it before, here is my old OGRE site with lots and lots of photos:

I am working on that thoery with my kids when they make poor choices, but their code is proving rather resilient and difficult to crack!  :p   :D
