Here is the image of the Old Crow 15mm Sabre Heavy Tank ![]() Pretty ain't it... ![]() I plan to order some of these. I having trouble deciding what weapon declare the side missile pods. So I'm turning to my fellow Sci-fi combat junkies to see what we can come up with. So the basic question is what do you think those weapons represent. I keep switching back and force between heavy anti-vehicle missile system or some kind of anti-infantry weapon, firing a missile that explodes into many small cluster bombs. The vehicle doesn't appear to have a co-ax weapon so I like the anti-infantry idea. Kind of bring your own artillery option. I guess it could count as a Anti-Air weapon, but I like that option the least. The lack of upward traverse on the turrent would make that difficult to imploy. Let me know what you think. Thanks |

What about a dual use system CC? Kinda like the ADATS... Air Defense / Anti Tank System... that the Canadian forces use: ADATS or ADATS #2 It's even an 8 shot weapon as well. IMNSHO if you wanted to get really loopy you could even slap a thermo-baric round on it like I mentioned yesterday in the small turret thread. ![]() |

I like the idea of anti-infantry cluster munitions. In some circumstances, you could consider them some sort of shape-charged weapon for bunker-busting. |

Before L4 sneaks in here I'll do it first! ![]() ![]() To me you'd almost be better off considering the anti-personnel munitions as being a dedicated item mounted on the hull of the tank like the anit buzz bomb strips are on the vehicles in the Slammer's books. And now that I think about it theres also flechette munitions as on the M255A1 hydra FFAR rockets: Hydra Flechettes Although I think in game terms you'd still be better using those as unguided rounds than as missiles. |

Heresiarch, Thats is a cool system alright. The limited traverse is the only think that keeps me from making it a Anti-Air system. |

OK, not to drag too much real world into SciFi after ranting against it on another thread, but.... ![]() Main Battle Tanks or Heavy Battle Tanks are designed to do what? Fight Tanks. I would make these heavy Anti-Vehicles Missile Launchers and leave the worry about Infantry to the IFV and troops that should be integrated into the same formation. Let the weapon system do what it was designed to do. I would make a platoon with a few of the MBTs and a couple of the Glave APCs. Assign to the Platoon a pair of Slingshot AFV and you have a nice combined arms formation. Glave: ![]() Slingshot: ![]() Just a thought. dafrca |

Ok guys I hear you, but... Why would you want two dedicated anti-tank weapons on the same chasis? Do we have an example of that in real world. ? Thanks P.S. - Dafcra you know there will infantry support I'm a Mech infantry die hard you know. Debating between the Glaive and th larger one. |

Well I can't think of any real world AFVs that have 2 dedicated AT weapons ... but there may be one out there ! So if I had to make a choice, those should be like the Claymore type weapons on the Ursa and M9 ! ![]() |

I would go Glaive myself. I like the shape better where the large one feels like a "Tank Light" to me. Course there goes my "Style over Substance" again. ![]() dafrca |

I'm not convinced I like the larger one either. but I want to have a large APC capable of carring a full squad. Dafcra think along the lines of the difference between the SdKfz 251 vs the SdKfz 250 and your understand while I trying to hold the Gliave as the "lighter" APC. |

Two thoughts, not linked: 1: Why does something have to exist in real life today in order to be a good idea in the future? I can not think of one today, but SciFi has lots of them. Starting with the obvious ones Bolo, OGRE, other Super Tank Stories. 2: Why not make them pods that come with a range of warheads like stated by others previous, but make it "selectable". meaning the load could adjust to the mission. Right now they are playing with guns with dual or even tri-feed magazines. The gunner selects the feed needed at the time. maybe these are like that. Eight tubes each with a selection of three or four "rockets" inside. If you look at some of the DP9 heavy gear pods they are done that way. This would even allow Salvo launches if desired by the gunner. Just a thought. dafrca |
