I have picked up a copy of Laser Storm and was wondering if there was someone who was well-versed in it and Strike Legion who could give maybe give me a quick description of the differences in activation and morale?

Also, how more/less detailed/complicated is the unit construction rules?

I am looking for some 6mm Sci-fi rules and I want to use a rather large range of minis so while I would love to crunch some stats for Epic I don't have the time and want to use an existing system with a point calculation system.

I like Laser Storm but the idea of activating by Battle Group seems a little more course than activation in Epic which is one thing that I really want to have in a game.

I'm sorry that i will not be able to help with the rule Sets you mentioned.
But if your looking for a 6mm rule set with easy Unit creation I would recommend Maker-War
It's an creative common table top and in the (free) WebApp/WebSite you can create Units comfortable with an Editor.
The game is structured in formations of mixed unit types and alternating activations, using simpler, but faster rules for shooting and close combat.
