So I was thinking about building up a small death race track for 6mm miniatures! I was thinking of using mainly the epic 40k range and write rules similar to what is already out there for 28mm scale!
I'm thinking lots of traps, explosions, ramps, dead ends?, short cuts and pesty goblins (or similar) trying to kill the racers! All this while the racers fight to the finish, literally, taking shots at each other, picking up and dropping bombs, weapon and armour pick ups on the track!

I will write up my take on the rules and a how to guide for changing gear, movement, shooting and everything else!

okay, so i found a home brew set of rules which i have used as a basic structure to my own set of rules and such!
here is what i have so far! as i said the structure was very basic and not 100% suited to what i'm thinking, so i re wrote it, keeping only a small amount of what was originally written in place, please keep in mind that i have never written any games like this before and will most likely have to re write again and again! any and all help would be great, if you guys can read over what i have and let me know if it works or not, also note that this is NOT complete! but i hope you enjoy what i have so far!

DEATH RACE

Vehicle speed: each player rolls a D6 at the start of their turn to determine the minimum movement for that turn!
Vehicles have 5 gears, and at the start of the turn (before the D6 has been rolled) players will decide whether they move up or down a gear.

gear 1 = dice roll x 1
gear 2 = dice roll x 2
gear 3 = dice roll x 3
gear 4 = dice roll x 4
gear 5 = dice roll x 5

If the player goes up a gear players take a speed test, roll a D6, on a roll of a 2 - 6 the player is fine, on a roll of a 1 the player fails to change gear,
loses control of their vehicle and rolls on the damage table

each player starts in 1st gear once they have stopped or have crashed!

Terrain Types:
Roads = Full Speed
Grass = -2 to Speed
Sand = -4 to Speed
Mud = -6 to Speed

Booby Traps, weapon upgrades and vehicle add ons: tokens are placed randomly through the track face down, and when a player drives over the counter, they flip over the counter to reveal
either a booby trap or a weapon/armor upgrade!

Damage Table:
1) Crew Shaken = -3 Speed for 1 lap
2) Crew Stunned = Motor Damaged -2 Speed Till Pit and Repair
3) Weapon Destroyed = Destroys 1 weapon, if no weapon counts as Stunned
4) Immobilized = Spins out for rest of turn
5) Wrecks = Must be towed to Pit for repairs
6) Destroyed = Explodes ... this vehicle is Out of race.

Tech marines and Servitors do repairs in pits
If you use the Pit stop you lose one turn but when you come out your car is fully repaired!

Vehicle Add ons:
Extra Armor: -1 to damage table
Nitro: Turbo Boost Gives +12 speed at start of turn. (Max 3 Nitro per vehicle)
Spiked bumper: when you ram opponent +1 to his Damage Roll
Protective Roll Cage: -1 to Damage Rolls from opponents Ramming
High Performance engine: when changing gears, don't roll a speed test

Booby Traps:
1) Spring loaded ramp - Roll a D20 and move back that many CM in a straight line!
2) Spike strip - you are now wrecked and must be towed to the pit for repairs!
3) Flame pit - car catches fire, -5 to next turns movement and cannot fire next turn!
4) Bomb - blast template, roll scatter dice to determine where the bomb hit! (if direct hit then the center of the template lands exactly where the trap was)
5) Thieves - stop you and Steel a Random Upgrade. if none left roll on Damage Table!
6) falling rocks - road is now blocked for one turn until the rocks are moved! the player who turned the booby trap over rolls on the damage table!
7) Oil spill - You spin out of control (you are Immobilized)

Weapon/armor upgrades:
1)
2)
3)
4)
5)
6)

Short Cuts - short cuts are the best way to get a head start, or to stop yourself from falling behind so much! (or maybe your just one of those drivers who MUST be
first at all times even though you don't have as much fun shooting at your fellow racers! But of course taking these short cuts isn't all fun and games, these are
much riskier routes to take!, when you have decided to take a short cut, roll on the dangerous road chart!

Rules:
1)
2)
3)
4)
5)

Dangerous Road Chart: (Roll D6)
1) Speed on = Short cut is Clear
2) Small Debris ... in Path causes -2 Speed for the rest of the turn
3) Heavy Debris ... causes -4 Speed for the rest of the lap
4) Difficult terrain ... causes you to have to Turn around, End turn at shortcut & Mark it as Impassible for all.
5) Thieves (yes they are more than just a booby trap)... stop you and Steel a Random Upgrade. if none left roll on Damage Table:
6) Treacherous ...Short cut, Roll-on Damage Table.

Non Vehicle unit rules:
1)once everyone has had their turn, non vehicle units take their turn!
2)each non vehicle unit gets the chance to shoot at vehicles, they roll a D6 and on a 5 or 6 the player who owns the vehicle getting shot at rolls on the damage table!
3)on their turn, non vehicle units can lay more counters for booby traps or vehicle add ons or weapon/armor upgrades (not their choice)!
each unit can place up to 3 counters per turn!
4)these units can move 24CM each turn but CANNOT land on the road, they can pass over the road to place counters but cannot stop on the road!

All feedback would be greatly appreciated!

thanks guys!

im definitely thinking a mad max style theme!
here is some that a guy made using micro machines (which is a great idea, as this doesnt have to be epic 40k related only)
