Hi, guys. I've been away from TacCom for a while with other things, but wanted to drop in and give you guys a heads up to what's been keeping me so busy. Some of you may remember the cheap-and-cheerful self-published wargame I released a few years ago, called MechaWar, that was all about mechs. Well, there was also an accompanying rules-set for aircraft and plans were well advanced to add the rest of the combined arms battlegroup to the collection in what I was calling the HorizonWars Trilogy. By chance I happened to mention my plans to Phil Smith at Osprey Publishing and one thing led to another. So now Horizon Wars (space inserted for marketing reasons, apparently) is going to be published by Osprey in 2016, with the release date planned to coincide with Salute. The manuscript is finished and I'm personally working on the photography and miniatures, while Phil commissions the artwork (sadly, our first choice of artist - old friend of MechaWar, Jon "BrotherOstavia" Gonzales - has had to pull out due to contractual conflicts - but Phil has a terrific alternative lined up). Obviously, I'm really excited about this and, as I have over a year until publication and the manuscript is finished, am working furiously on developing a huge shopping list of additional material. MechaWar is temporarily unavailable while I slightly adjust the rules to bring it in line with Horizon Wars (no rules changes - just terminology adjustments) but will remain available to buy (probably from Amazon, when it returns) in parallel with Horizon Wars as a "quickstart/entry level" sort of product. Anyway, thought you guys'd be interested. I'm going to put some more pics of recent painting work for Horizon Wars into the P&M section, but feel free to ask any questions. |

Cool! I purchased the original 3 and had a few games of it - seemed like fun. I was actually thinking of digging it out again post Christmas with new gaming group - sounds like I'll hold on for the new version! |

Nicely done. I'm guessing it won't be 3 pounds for the lot from Osprey though. ![]() |

No, it'll be £20, full-colour and I think hard back. However, I will keep MechaWar and AirFrame available for sale separately at the original price. Also, most of the expansion material will be free to download. R. |
