Hi, do anyone have any suggestions for a boardgamesystem where I could use (40k) 6mm war gaming miniatures as proxy ? sort of like memoir 44 but with a bigger board and more unit options ... I have tried goggling but so far I have only seen suggestions for cav, ogre and battletech and none of them seem like an ideal match especially because of the lack of infantry options. I would like to use the 6mm orks and eldars and space marines for something that required less setup time and investment in nice scenary than epic. for example im interested in the new battlelore second edition and its approach to miniature wargaming so im looking for a 6mm scifi version of something similar to that but not sure if something like that actually exist ? ![]() |

Yeah ... but they still are good rules systems ... I think he may have a hard time finding a system with hexes ? Beside the one's he mentioned ... I could be wrong ? |

I don't know any but am interested in finding out if there is much interest in one. A few yeas ago i started writing a rule set ( originally a mod of several other board games but became much more ) which is almost exactly what you are describing. I never finished it as my friends and i found we had time and space again for table top and started playing EA - but i still wish i had got round to making it work... |

thanks for the replies Rastamann, hex command seems like the thing I am looking for. there is a system called hex command nova which is scifi and I saw on the miniatures page that they are making rules for using 40k in hex command mechanized. but that were in a post from 2009 i think and i haven't seen other post about it online anywhere so not quite sure what happened to those house rules. I tried contacting the site imagineimage a week ago to ask about the rules but I don't think they received my email. So i got a bit impatient and just signed up for membership at imagineimage "War Games Archive" (10$) to browse their archive and get access to the member downloads. I am now waiting for an email so i can make a username and password... If anyone knows how to contact the people behind hex command PM me |

What about Heroscape? I have pondered modifying the rules to be more suited to 6mm gaming, it would probably be a decent place to start. You could just sub out the troop types and maybe relabel things as needed. |

I've been puttering on and off working on a strategic-level wargame, where you move regiments and divisions rather than individual squads and units. In that context, 6mm is the perfect scale, and hexes make sense to simplify movement. |

Sorry to resurrect this thread a bit, but is there any news on any of these hex games and where people can get them? I'd be really interested in chasing down a copy and trying some of them out. I didn't know that sci fi hex gaming was much of a thing, but would love to try out some games (since I've already built a hex map for other things). |
