So i would just like to get some info about battletech here for those that are interested. or if anyone has a question you can ask here.

What is Battletech you say? Let me fill you in...

It is the 31st century, a time of endless wars that rage across human-occupied space. As star empires clash, these epic wars are won and lost by BattleMechs, 30-foot-tall humanoid metal titans bristling with lasers, autocannons and dozens of other lethal weapons; enough firepower to level entire city blocks. Your elite force of MechWarriors drives these juggernauts into battle, proudly holding your faction’s flag high, intent on expanding the power and glory of your realm. At their beck and call are the support units of armored vehicles, power armored infantry, aerospace fighters and more, wielded by a MechWarrior's skillful command to aid him in ultimate victory. Will they become legends, or forgotten casualties? Only your skill and luck will determine their fate!

Catalyst is the owner of the rights for the game, and the producer of the rule books.

Does the infantry and tanks scale well to epic?

Info:
Battletechs scale is 1/285th. The game use's six side dice rolls to see if you hit your target, or in some case's to decide if you fall over or not. The games basic rules are easy to learn for those that want a fun couple of hours with some friends. The game also has rules for those players that want to take their game to another level. These more advanced rules allow mech customization, mech pilot skill checks, using jump jets to land your mech on an enemy to crush him.

Battletech is about 1:285 so right about the size of Epic. The problem is there doesn't seem to be consistent scale in the model range so some units are massive and other are minuscule.

The mechs seem to work mostly alright with epic, but 15mm models work better.

Battletech infantry has been a bit elastic over the years.

The original infantry figures where about 10mm out of scale with the mechs, later new 6mm sculpts came along, i don't know which ones are available know.

The vehicles for the most part are compatible with epic.

Ral Partha Europe are licensed to make the classic miniatures, not sure if these are the same as Ironwind been along time since I played. Here's a link

Iron Wind is basically the successor to Ral Partha. Name changed when Wizkids bought up the license, IIRC.

Yeah, but the game itself seems to be made by a company called Catalyst, and the models by Iron Wind metals.

I just bought the 25th Anniversary Box set, and am pretty happy with the contents. Great to get you going. The basic 24 mechs are pretty poor, but with a bit of love and some painting they are perfectly serviceable. Of course, the pair of Omnimechs look better.

i hadnt noticed that box before. The quality reminds me of the mechs in the citytech box from back in the day. althought that thor and loki are very nice.

let see if i can help...this is what i know at this stage of life :)

Catalyst Games Lab are the current licencee for the production of everything except miniatures. Topps Ltd is the new name for WizKids - they hold the licence for BT - owned by the original creator of the game...

Iron Wind Metals and Ral Partha Europe are current licencees to make miniatures...Iron Wind makes all the new stuff...Ral Partha sell Iron Wind stock as well as stuff with the molds they still own - as the molds die they stop selling that particular model...

as for EPIC usage - i find most of the vehicles too large for EPIC tanks, although some can make nice conversions for WE (my Squat Cyclops is a converted Battletech Heimdall tank)...i have seen ppl use mechs as the basis for some nice titan conversions...some of the battle armour can make nice alternates for robots/dreadnoughts...regular infantry would be a little big for EPIC infantry...

as for the current box set - sadly the quality of most of the plastics hasnt really improved since the days of Citytech - poor sculpts, seems like some of the mechs has the limbs/packs attached with hot glue...i had to pull apart the mechs and re-glue parts with proper hobby glue...the Loki & Thor are very nice and would have been nice if all the mechs were of the same quality...

hope that helped :)

couple of links u might find useful...

Vaaish actually goes through a fair bit of work on the old Battletech plastics to make them more presentable, and it pays off. The new ones do seem of similar quality (the plastic's not as nice as Citytech, but it's also probably easier to work with).

This is true that archer conversion with ppc's in the hands was rather nice.
