Hi C/S- thats a great goal. If we are to concentrate on 6mm gaming, please could you clear up some of the other scale boards then. It is too cluttered at the moment before we add any new boards.
Please could you tidy it up to the following
-One section for 6mm gaming at top, with sub-sections as you see fit.
-One section for other scales beneath, with single sub-sections for each of other sci-fi, fantasy, ancients, VSF & Steampunk, and modern gaming
-One section for general with sub sections for trades and OT discussions
-One section for painting with sub sections for TOEG, 6mm, other scales, casting and terrain
-One section for Net EA playtesting with sub-sections as current.
Basically to put focus on 6mm gaming, painting and modelling, and Net EA Playtesting.
Hi WI. That is, broadly, what we already have. The last three of the five that you suggest are already in place. The only difference would be to combine all of the game genres into a single board. But, if we did that, to get to the EA Battle Report board, for example, you would be adding an extra layer, making it:
Gaming > Sci Fi > EA > BatReps
What we have now is the same but without that top layer of Gaming.
I am not sure if it is clear, but all boards are designated as 'army scale' (6mm, 10mm and smaller), so 'VSF' for example includes Dystopian Wars, Timelines, etc. Any non-army scale games of any type all go into the 'other scales' board, and if there is a huge discussion on a single, non-army scale game it can get a sub-board, but I am not encouraging this and it will take a lot of persuading. This is why we have seperate FoW and BFG boards as sub-boards of the 'other scales'. It is a deliberate attempt to marginalise larger scale miniature games, without cutting off people's other wargaming interest and giving them a place to talk about other stuff as well.
Honestly, right now, I think that many of the issues that people have with the layout is actually because there are not enough boards. Essentially, I have been moving towards a broader structure, but without the individual boards in place, the structure isn't obvious, or even as logical.
