Specialist Games (SG) updated their site with a major revamp.
Check it out:
Specialist Games - Epic Page
There are some updates for playtest lists.
Another major change is in the release schedule.
Shalom, Maksim-Smelchak.

And just look at the release dates for Titan Legions and Gargant Bigmobs...at my gloomiest, I'd predict EA would have folded by then. Still, thinking of SG's BFG....

The new site is very nice, but I agree with vanvlak here, the catalogue page scares the poo out of me as well! How can they plan all the way to 2010 without knowing if it's going to be a major sucess. I suppose only time will tell...
Cheers

Yes, '06, '07, '08, '09! Will I still be alive by then?! ?
Necrons in '08 IIRC and Tau in '09! ?
Didn't Athmos, Freshmetal and I just have a discussion about the F/W Tau being a stand in army? (Not !, IMO !) ?
I was happy to see that they will release Character Packs for SM, IG & Orks, in the future! ?
And of course with me being able to pre-order E-A for May in the US, I guess I will be "pacified" in the short term.
But in the past, SM-1/AT, SM-2/TL and E-40K did not stand the test of time. Each replacing the other within four years (+ or -).
But as Chris said, only time will tell?

I was thinking the same thing L4, with the other systems being replaced in less time than Epic:A is scheduled to run for. I don't want to sound synical, as I want Epic:A to suceed and become mainstream, but perhaps they are putting too much faith in the system too early.
Cheers

While I understand the need to schedule carefully, but I do worry that the schedule is a little too strung out. I do feel that it would be better to concentrate on the core forces (Tyranids, Eldar, Chaos, etc) and then to go back later to look at things like Tyranid Splinter Swarms and specific Ork Clans.
I know that we cant get everything done at once, and that it is better to make sure that each list is right and done properly, but when a new player sees a schedule stretching forward six years, it is daunting. Even for me, if I want to play my Chaos Lost and the Damned force, I will have to wait until 2010 (assuming that there is not a single delay between now and then).
I should be pleased that the 'three year game life cycle' is over (thank goodness for that, those were worrying times), but I dont know if this is going to help. For example, Epic has been out only about three months, and already the schedule has slipped by about two years!
I hope that AT3 is pushed forward as soon as possible, as I think that this is important to bring in the new players.

And the character packs should be nice (my prediction of character packs for all armies came true )

I only see a 6 month delay (which changes the year numbers on most releases by 1 year, because they were due towards the end of the year, but still its only a 6 month delay).
And Fanatic have add alot more things into the release schdule (BloodAngels, DarkAngels, Titan Legions, 'nid splinter fleets etc).
IMO the extra stuff in the release schedule is a good sign. I think it shows that the E:A stuff is selling well, and Fanatic are anticipating continued demand for new models.

Perhaps my mistake, but I thought that original schedule planned up to 2008 only.
I agree that the new lists look good. However, I would rather that the new armies came after the core ones, rather than pushing them back. For example, I think that a Tau or Lost and the Damned force would entice more players that a Black Templars or Blood Angels army.

I agree core armies should take precedent... Dark Angels, Blood Angels, etc. are nice, but Chaos, 'Nids, Eldar (even Tau & Necron), should be first in line, IMO.
Necrons in '07 is still a long way off.
But, the Characters Packs are still a highlight! ? ?
Let's just hope E-A can survive more than 4 years...

Well, I think they are following the business model of Warmaster and BFG. The releases are slow but steady and keeps the company from expending too many resources without the chance to recover them.
There is always the possibility that Epic will continue to outsell the projections by a wide margin and additional development funds will be made available.
Outside of that, though, I'd much rather see them "go low" and continue to have the capacity to produce than to speed stuff up, risk their business capital, and possibly introduce a significant flaw into the mix that causes the game to tank.

Agreed, the BFG model seemed to work, but to me BFG has died. I lost interest in it once Epic:A came along.
I agree with others that main core forces should be concentrated on before off shoot armies like Black Templars. What I am looking forward to however is the Titan Legions list. That sounds like fun!
Cheers

though I can see the logic of the Black Templars as (in the same vein as the Speed Freeks list) very few new models are needed as compared to the Tau or the Necrons.

Hi!
I agree with Neal's logic. Its imperative for fanatic to keep a low key, steady sales and a long term view for it to remain for years and complete its release schedule. Perhaps if it does well enough it may do one or two things ahead of schedule, but not enough to jeopordize them.
