OT: I changed the magic system as part of a conversion, but then decided that nothing else needed changing, as long as you have a good GM the rules are fine as they are. I just need to find someone to GM one, I have run them before and will GM one if I have to but would much rather be a player for a change

Hi!
I think the current RPG rules provide enough framework to play D&D in a warhammer world, you can make prestige classes for the special units and making monsters is relatively simple.

Like I said - the magic system doesn't fit, and that was a simple mod. Just added magic points rather than set spells, when you are out of magic points you can use HP's as a substitute.

I own it and most of it's supplements including the new Stone and Steel suppliment written for the Dwarves just before Hogshead publishing shut down.
Until AD&D 3.5 it was my fav system, but AD&D 3.5 is really good, I much prefer it to 2nd Ed and I think with a slightly modded magic system (which wouldn't affect me as I rarely play mages but it would be more 'fluffy') it would be more suited.
WFRP is a bit outdated now.

Here in lies my problem - I wanna be a player, I have DMed for the last 10 years . Need a break, I mean I will do it if I have to, but ideally would rather someone else DMed.

Bugger, will have to get some players from PBEM.com then I guess, luckily I have a campaign already created  (guess you are right Primarch, once a DM always a DM) but still, bit of a shame.

Thinking about it, the magic system could be left as it is - just ban the wizard char and use the sorcerors magic system. Instead of gaining an innate knowledge of a spell, a wizard must still research it but then that is part of the leveling up process.
