Howdy Tom,
Just found a possible bug on .com. You've added a link to "News" in the top menu to the group news page. All cool, but do you realise it opens in the top frame and not in the main viewing window?
Personally I think it would work a lot better if it opened in the main window but if it is a concious decision then run with it by all means!

BTW: The vote came to:
- Yes, but it would be nicer to have a more streamlined menu system., 5 votes, 62.50%
So if we use the standard NetEPIC method of polling, without a two thirds majority it will not be implemented.
Is everyone ok with this polling method? Or do you prefer a different system.

democracy can be a good thing, but not in all cases
remember though everyone has good taste and knowa about good design and usability!!!!!!
the reality is that you don't need to ask the community everytime a decision needs to be made in order to change things
with menus and the like, I would do what is required to benefit the community (you obviously think that the menu needs changing as you wouldn't be asking the question).

Hi!
I think you should just implement whatever changes you think benefit the site and wait for the feedback to guage whether the change was "accepted" or not. It's easier and gets things done easier.
Besides, you're the one with the "technical expertise" to run that aspect of the site and thus the one with actual experience and knowledge to appropriate guage if a given change, in the technical aspect, is doable or not. After that all the is left is the subjective likings of all of us whether it "looks good or not". In that sense its better (and easier) to modifiy an existing "look" or "feature" that design and upload it from scratch.
I dont think a "net epic style" poll system best serves here, thats for design and gaming, web maintenance has to be more practical and efficient.

I agree with Primarch. I run a few web sites of various types. I normally find that if you ask an open question for suggestions you will either get no response, or a huge variety.
It is often best to make changes to start people talking and telling you what they like, or suggest a couple of alternatives. With something like the menu structure, it really is a matter of personal taste, and there will always be trade offs. I would discuss it with just a couple of people with an interest in the site, make basic changes and see what people think. I do think that the place would benefit from a slight restructuring.
