DELAYED DELIVERIES TO THE USA

Got this from Mark at Copplestone Minis ... guess things may be a bit slow across the pond (?) ... ??? :-[ :'( "Some orders sent to the USA in early to mid-December have been delayed and have only just started arriving. This was completely out of our control and seems to have been the result of new US security measures taken after bombs were found in a cargo plane at a UK airport - although bad weather here and in the USA before Christmas made it worse:

A couple of days ago I spoke to someone in the international section of our Royal Mail who told me that packets (but not letters) were being held by US customs for up to 25 days before getting security clearance. This seems to be a continuing situation so it looks like our US customers may have to wait up to 5 weeks for delivery. Thanks for your patience.

Had this lock up a few transactions now.
While I'm happy the Homeland Security Hooha is busy protecting me from 6mm threats, I kinda wish they wouldn't. ;)

I'm just trying to get a grip on this:

Sent a large box to E&C and it arrived in record time. I guess nobody cares about sending bombs to the U.K.

Hmmm ... are there problems like this mailing from the UK to say ... Germany ? And is Germany having problems mailing to the US because of the bomb threat ?

Germany has been a real pain for me. Between books and models I've been hosed for almost $60 in shipping charges because they can't deliver their own mail. I'm seriously considering making it a Fedex only shipment from now on.

It seems german postmans can't read adress labels and/or try to deliver at ungodly times and can't be bothered to fillout the form which says that the delivery can be collected at the postoffice.

Increased security measures delays some mail to USA

Since November 2010, the United States Department of Homeland Security has increased security measures for items carried on passenger airlines. As a result, mail entering the US from around the world, and including the UK, that would normally be sent via passenger aircraft must now travel by other means, including ships and cargo planes.
