Caught this on TMP just now. The Wargames Factory has another idea they are now pushing in addition to the sprue recycling:

http://www.wargamesfactory.com/league

Essentially, if 100 people agree to order 10 sprues of something, they'll make it.  In plastic.  The fine print is when they reach 1000 sprues they'll ask for a $1 down and when they're ready the $4-8 to cover the rest of the cost.

I've sent an email about 6mm stuff.  In the meantime who wants to brainstorm?

edit: nevermind, just caught the fact that they'll do any scale.

SO! What do you guys think? Sci-fi Androids, re-breather sci-fi troopers, heavily armored sci-fi troopers.  Tanks, tanks, tanks, and more tanks?

Thats incredible news.

I see they have a link to a lead manufacture as well.

Just asking them if the model designs are also submitted if it makes the sprue more of a sure thing (in addition to the orders).

For me that's alien beasties in plastic, and cyborg robots in plastic :)

Oh and Sci Fi goblins in plastic!

Hell Otter would you want all your tanks made?

Is that $4 - $8 per sprue, I assume?  Because if that was for ten sprues, I'd be all over that in a heartbeat!  Man, we could design our own Skeletal Android Warrior figs, along with various assorted support types.

And you know what I would love to see?  You do?  Oh, then never mind... well, okay, I guess I'll share.  Kitbashing sprues for 28mm, 15mm, and 6mm.  Each one could have assorted weapons, applique armor, dozer blades, cupolas, stowage, smoke grenade dischargers, etc.  That, too, would rock.  You know it would.

Another idea:  A set of 6mm sci-fi armor sprues, with one having all sorts of turrets, a second having all sorts of hull uppers, and a third having all sorts of hull bottoms (such as tracked, wheeled, GEV skirts, etc.).  *sigh*  I need a government subsidy to put all these grand schemes into motion.

From what's on the site already I think you just suggest what you want in what scale. For example the only entry in the 'other' category currently is for 28mm zombies. The way I read it is once 100 people commit to wanting 1000 sprue's of zombies they begin the design process. I don't think they are expecting people to start sending them greens or CAD designs.

May have completely misread it though.

$5-9 a sprue I believe, with the $1 down.

The site says they'll start the design process when 500 sprues are ordered.

I've already put in a request for 6mm Androids, we'll see what they say about it. If it gets posted, I'll link to it here. I think we could get 100 people if Mosc. old poll is anything to go by.

Rather than 6mm androids, i'd go for 6mm skeletons with guns, to ensure the design matches what we want...

There was a section asking for source material/images.  I think I gave them a good idea.

Wow, the possibilities are endless. :wow:  I'd like to see Exod...um, I mean dino riding space Elves. I do like the idea of sprues for armor customization.

How big does each sprue have to be?

The site says their sprues are 4"x6". That's about the size of the old SM/TL era ones.

I think stuff already in production by someone is just duplication. So say Necron infantry is done, likewise there are two lots of dino riders now.

So what about something like Dark Eldar and transports? COuld be fairly generic. Anything else?

Necrons infantry is already done well enough by Andrayada I think, same with the range of Kraytonian lizard riders that seems likely to expand to include a 'feral' Homeworld army list for Kraytonians. A pointy helmet containing a pointy reptilian Kraytonian head, looks a lot like a pointy helmet containing an non-pointy elf head...  :;):

Thus, Monoliths and Dark Eldar Raiders would seem like good choices... or how about walking mechanical crabs with guns?

Not close enough to be copyright, but close enough to be hard to mistake for something different... capture the archetype.

Eg not a star wars sand-skiff, not a dark eldar raider, but something similar.

Hi,
What about some sort of modular gothic terrain pieces?
Apart from the plastic ruins I can't think of anything else?

The sprue can contain a couple of walls, that you can combine and build houses. Need to think of the layout so that it will be modular but varied..

Actually why limit it to gothic?
For instance a sprue of orkish building parts, you can make whole villages quickly. I would buy tons of these and make me orky towns (the same can go for other terrain sets as well).

I disagree, necrons don't have enormous shoulder pads.
