Details are somewhat sketchy. Additional information is pending.
March 15, 2008 at the Memphis Battle Bunker.
Minimum of 3 rounds, possibly 4-5 depending on response. Additionally, potential events for the Friday before and/or Sunday after.
Currently, the ruleset to use is in question but it seems to be leaning towards the Handbook, possibly with a few minor modifications.
====
On a side note... has anyone seen any mention of this anywhere? The first I heard was a direct email. I've seen nothing on the GW/SG sites, nor the SG boards or here. I did multiple searches on Google and popped up one indy game store site that mentioned it.
However, the description I had was that GWUS was running national championships for all the SG games. It seems very odd that a GW-sponsored event is not publicized more than that.

I am sure that I heard of this - an announcement from Greg, possibly on one of the Yahoo Groups. But nothing official from GW pending.

Bloody hell.
D'ya'll remember that noob who bounced onto Warseer with some 'big news' he claimed to have abou Epic (I've forgotten what it was now), plus the news that GW would be holding SG tournaments in major cities during 2008?
And we all reckoned him a troll?
Now, what on earth was his big news? Anyone remember?

From warseer several months ago-
Yes I do. Specialist games will not be dying. It will be moving towards its own entitiy, similar to FW or BL. It was almost axed but this solution was but forward and in essence saved SG. It will have its own design team and miniature desgners. How the specifics are going to work or when the official roll out will be I do not know right now. Last I heard J.J. was being interviewed to run the company. All this is from a source I trust. You can believe it or not, that is up to you. On a related note there will be, next year, worldwide tournements for all SG. I know that Chicago will be the Warmaster one, Seattle will be the BFG one and Nashville will be the Epic one. As for times and dates that is still in the works but again, I trust the source. Do what you will with this information. If you do just a little hunting on your own I am sure you will be able to confirm all that I have said.
I for one am excited for this news. I have said for years this is the direction that SG should go and think that J.J. would be a great leader for the company. I lived through the revival of SG with the release of E:A and can see nothing but great times ahead if this pans out the way it looks like it might.

Well that's interesting.
This chap picked out Nashville, Tennessee.
The tournament is going to be held in Memphis, Tennessee...

Oh yeah, I remember that post on Warseer. I really thought the guy had been sniffing glue. If SG does become a separate entity like FW and BL, that could be answer to our prayers.

Being a fan of GW games, and especially Specialist Games certainly does turn one into an "I'll believe it when I see it." type of person.
Would be nice it this ends up happening and gets SG moving forward again.
