I have closed the previous thread to start a new one here. The reason for that is that I have made a little progress. After straightening out the database and sorting it out a little, I have made some changes which should stabilise these boards. This means that (hopefully) we will not longer experience those... colourful moments when pictures were switched and random posts appeared in the middle of other threads. For all intents and purposes, these boards are now as stable as they were before the 'great crash of 05'.

There are still things to put right on the surface of these boards, such as the colours, but the foundations should now be as strong as they were previously.

Thanks.

I should also ask... please can people keep me informed if things are, actually back to normal? Let me know if there is anything that you notice that is still not fixed, and also things that have been fixed as a result of my tinkering. For example, the behaviour of the 'new posts' button and any strange events which occur here.

Thanks.

Great Work CS!

ps: Can I stillhave the Grey as my color when I log in or will your color changes make the grey no longer an option?

Thanks for your comments, guys. I am afraid that the pictures (and any other changes which happened before the boards were straightened out) will remain 'wrong'. They will need to be changed manually, but this kind of thing should not continue to happen. The colours will go back to the way that they were before, with blue as the default and then the member selecting either the blue or the grey as their home colour when logged in. Only the 'standard' white colour scheme will be deleted.

Thanks.

Hi CS
Just noticed that you get an error when trying to access a thread from the main page. The latest thread link on the far right on the screen gives me an "File not found" message. but when I acess the thread through the subtopics there's no problems.

Cheers! :)

Yes, I noticed this too. This is due to the fact that we have dangling pointers!  ???  It is a problem with linking to threads which have not been updated after the changes that I made yesterday. This should disappear with time. Also, I have deleted my second account, and so now my previous posts are coming up as from 'Guest'. Most often, this is me.

Thanks for getting the "new posts" search sorted by time again.  Much easier to keep up with. :D
