CS,

I have been lurking the last couple of weeks since I have made an effort to get back into my 6mm hobby after a year and a half of RL priorities.

First let me say I love what you have done with the place so far!

I know you are up to your eyeballs in other changes/issues but is making the theme a bit more Widescreen friendly on the menu? Currently on my 24" 1680x1050 display, the forum takes up about 1/3 or less of the screen. I have also noticed that some larger image attachments make a mess of the screen.

In any case it is not a critical issue and I am sure you have lots of other issues on your plate, so I will return to my lurking corner!

MM

Hi, and thanks for your comments. The issue of screen width has come up (several times ;) ). There are two points that you make. To deal with your second one first, I believe that I have (recently) adjusted the settings so that image sizes dont mess up the layout... but this is something that I am monitoring.

WRT overall screen width, its a difficult issue due to the variety of screen resolutions used by people here. The only real option that I can see is a variable width with a minimum central column, but this means going into the CSS in a bit more depth. It is on my list and I will look into it... although I am not sure when at this point.

ultra wide screens only need to be roped in when pics are involved. - you cant read lines of text longer then a certain amount without losing the line in my experience.

Madmagician you can modify the site css client side using browser add-ons.

And I agree with madd0ctor, you don't really want the text longer anyway from a readability standpoint, it's already on ~130 characters per line which is longish (assuming we follow legibility research such as 1 2 3 and accept 100cpl as a good length, over the 'designer' length of ~70cpl max).

Is it sad that the first thing I did after reading Apoc's post was count the characters on a line ;D?

I do see that point. And like I said, CS I'm not complaining I really like what you've done with the place :)
