As I am sure you have all notice, I have moved the boards and sections around a little. Now, I am pretty sure that I will get several messages of 'I cant find x', but I feel that this new structure is easier to navigate and more inuitive. I have also not deleted or removed a single post in these movements. The final stage to this process now is to remove those boards which are not concerned with 'army scale' games. I honestly feel that this new setup is more focussed and clearer to navigate - once you get used to things. The only other thing is that some threads are in the wrong place as a result of a few new boards and some boards being renamed. If you see a thread in the wrong section, please drop me a PM and I will move it to the correct place. As a note, the most common issues that I can foresee are: - Cant find EA discussion: It has a section in the Science Fiction games area. - Cant find NetEpic: The same, a section in the Science Fiction games area. - Where are the NetEA rules discussed? All NetEA development is in a single section now, both army lists and core rules, although they still have seperate boards. So, please give this a try. Thanks for your patience. |

Oh, good. Thought I was having a stroke for a minute. All looks logical to me, but I wonder if a seperate 'casting, sculpting and creating miniatures' board is strictly necessary. The way I see it, and despite my own specific interests, it's still all part of the 'modelling' hobby. That, and the vast majority of stuff on it is 6mm anyway. IMO it's almost like having two 6mm boards. And where does an army plog go if the owner decides at the start to sculpt a lot of their own models for it? |

The rationale was that casting and creating miniatures has become a particularly big topic here, with questions about how it is done, CAD discussion, casting tips and requests for specific items. I think that it benefits from its own section, where this kind of advice and assistance can take root. I am also concerned that I need to keep an eye on certain projects, to ensure that they do not infringe on IP owned by other companies, and this seperate board helps that too. It is currently focussed on 6mm, but I can see this site expending beyond this scale a little more, and casting could be terrain. If there is a plog where the owner casts their own stuff, it is really up to them, but I would suggest that it goes in the relevant painting section, with a seperate thread for more in depth discussion on casting if required. |

Wargames Discussion - Fantasy Wargames - Historical Wargames - Modern Wargames - Wargame General Discussions - Wargames Trades -> subforum Trade Site Notices - Historical Discussion Secondary, the smaller scifi could also be moved into General. These would be Future War Commander and Command Horizon. Agree with you on compressing Historical and Modern Wargames. Do we really need separate sections for; Aeronautica Imperialis Exodus Wars Seeds of War Is there much discussion on these as rulesets? As opposed to the excellent minatures from E/W and DRM which presumably would be better off in 6mm Minatures section? Cheers James |

Aeronautica Imperialis has more regular discussion than Command Horizon, as do Exodus Wars and Seeds of War. If any board is the odd-man out, 40K is. What I'd do to further condense things: Consider moving Command Horizon discussion into the general sci-fi section. Move 40K into the general sci-fi section Merge the Fantasy, Modern, and Historical Wargames categories (keep the sections, but merge the categories) Rename Wargames General Discussion, since it's not General Discussion of Wargames. Get rid of Other Scale Wargames, since its components logically fit into the other categories |

I'm rather fond of having a separate 40K board. Okay, I'm biased because it's actually one of the few games on here that I actually have some tactical knowledge of, but given that it's a popular game, and distinctive from general science fiction gaming, I don't think that it would really fit to merge it. |

It is true that the basic premise for a board is - is there a use for it. However, often people wont post about a subject because the board to put it on doesn't exist, or a forum becomes known for one type of discussion because it doesn't put forward other boards. This is all part of my philosophy of 'evolve or die'. I want to promote more varied discussion. I want this to be THE place for 6mm and army scale discussion. I want to contact manufacturers and invite them to make this their official feedback forum. The end goal is - aside from the NetEA development - have a board for each game/figure range, with sub-boards as required, making it fairly clear where discussion is located and easy to navigate. I have no intention of making this place as populated with boards as TMP! ![]() |
