I thought that I would explain why we have these new images on the boards. Some people wonder if I have decided to ally myself with a doll manufacturer or girls toy enterprise... this is not the case... yet! ? ![]() As we approach 11th November, we arrive at Remembrance Sunday. For those unaware, it signifies the anniversary of the end of the First World War, and is now taken as an international day of memory and thanks for all those who have fought in all wars. These images will remain for a few days only. I choose to mark this event on this site. This is the only official event that this site marks. I dont want to get into political debates, and I dont want to open the doors to many other, equally deserving, events. I chose to mark this event in respect of all people, from all nationalities and backgrounds, who have fought, continue to fight, and in many cases sacrificed, for the principles that they believe in, and the world that we live in, no matter what side they were on. I strongly believe that, as members of a hobby closely related to these events, we have a responsibility not to take this for granted, and to remember. Thank you. We will not forget. |

This year, the banners are at the bottom of each category on the main page, and at the bottom of the boards when you view a category. For exmaple, here: http://www.tacticalwargames.net/forums/ ... ct=SC;c=19 Under the General Web News forum link. |

I just found out what this date means. If you read the entry for Germany on the wikepedia page http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Remembrance_Day you will found out that it is (relatively) unknown here. 9th of November however is a different thing: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Schicksalstag |

Thanks, CS. I think it's important to honor those who have fought, especially the ones who made the ultimate sacrifice. |
