WikiWikiWar The Tactical Wargames Network - Getting Wiki With It! The wait is finally over. I am very pleased to announce that the first phase of the sites community sector - the wiki - is now open to the community. Please see the above sticky posts, then visit the new area here: WikiWikiWar In addition to the sticky posts, I would like to point out that: 1. The colours, layout, design, etc are extremely likely to change as time goes on. I will be adding stuff and changing stuff slowly. 2. I would very much appreciate any feedback or comments that you have. How is it to use? What features do you like? What dont you like? And what would you like? There are a lot of additional things to add in, and I will be doing this over time. If enough people ask for a feature that could be available, it is likely that I will move this higher up the priorities. Thanks, enjoy, and let me know what you think. |

Er, whoa. I'm definitely going to need a user's manual. ![]() |

The tables cannot be cut to rows using new lines. That would be really wanted to do proper tables. With just | it gets very confusing very fast I have not tried this, but if you are familiar with HTML, you could try ticking the 'include HTML' box and drawing your table that way. 1. How to delete a page that is not really needed? 2. How to rename page if it was named wrong? 1. Ask me, and.... 2. Ask me! ? ![]() Allowing members to delete pages could be problematic, as your masterpiece page disappears because someone else thought that it was not needed. I have added permissions to rename pages to registered users. I am not entirely sure how this works when a page has links to it already... ? ![]() By the way, Hena, we seem to be having a minor wiki battle! I keep renaming the 'ArmyList' page to 'Epic Armageddon Army Lists', and when I return there is a new page with the original title! Let me know which page to delete. It would be useful to keep page titles specific, in case someone wants to create a 'CAV Army Lists' page in the future. Thanks. |

OK. The other page is now gone. Thanks. Just to confirm, it was you adding new pages... right? Yes, it seems that the links do automatically update. However, this has the additional impact on any pages that linked to a reamed page. For example, I submit a page with 'over on the Tactical Command boards', linking to the Tactical Command wiki page. If someone now changes the name of the Tactical Command page, to 'Bingo Online', does this change original page to 'over on the Bingo Online boards'? Generally, I am a little uncomfortable about members being able to change page names. Opinions? |

Opinions? We're mature enough a bunch not to vandalise, and any vandalism that does happen can be easily rolled back. |

HEy CS, would it be a good idea to provide a few templates for frequent page types (army lists, organization charts etc.)? Nothing in letters of gold, just something to help make things user-friendly. |

(Hena @ Jul. 29 2007,10:49) QUOTE I would assume that links done with [xx|yy] won't update the yy bit. However links done with WikiNames style will change. I think so. Yes. I think, when it comes to templates, that it would be better if people just look at what has already been done when they submit a page. For example, I have added information to the Battlefleet Gothic page, with some sample categories and headings that I think would be useful when describing games in general. Similarly, I have set up a single stub for a BFG vessel, with a start of a layout, but this can easily be expanded on by anyone. |

OK. A bit of a round-up... Currently active in the new section are: - personal space - wiki - picture galleries - blog - ad banners I think that this will keep us all for a little while. There is still a lot of additional things to add, but I would prefer it if people got used to the new system slowly, and added content as much as possible. Let me know your comments. |

It is certainly possible to move the login to the left hand side. However, the ad banners are now on the right, and as more features are added the left menu gets longer. Do people really want everything stuck on the left? As for the remember me feature, this would be more difficult. Remind me if this is still a problem a bit later on. Thanks. |
