For anyone who hasn't registered their vote for which forces they'd like to see in the battle report, there is still time! Expecting to film this on Saturday 1st May...

Would that be retroactive filming then ;)? I assume that you mean June :D.

Anyway, I'm looking forward to see how this turns out. Are you planning on using it as a teaching exercise for possible new players too, or just a standard battle report?

:-[ Oh dear! Yes, 1st June! I'll not be making use of time travel for this particular project!

It will be a standard battle report but if I turn out to be reasonably competent at doing this kind of thing I will embark on a proper training video explaining how to play NetEpic unless Hena is already doing that...

I'm planning on trying to do a "how to play epic" thing tomorrow. At least start taking it in film. Whether I manage to film all is another question.

...but I'm assuming your tutorial is for E:A?

Cheers Dt, but you can only vote once for each race! Feel free to vote for any other favourites you have (though one vote for everything would be a bit of a waste of time)!

Voting update for battle:

Marines: 2
Eldar: 2
Chaos: 6
Squats: 3
Imperial Guard: 4

Chaos are beginning to look like a sure thing, but with a week to go it can still all change...

Yes, it would be on E:A. However this is much harder than I expected and I did not get even half way today. Batreps are easy compared to this :).

I'm not surprised to see you say this. I'm guessing that it takes a lot longer to explain things than you might expect before you start such a project?

Yes, since I have to videotape and speak at the same time instead of doign voice overs. But biggest obstacle actually came from lack of tripod / other suitable camera holder. In batreps there is two of us which allows to have one for camera and other for models (movement, casualties etc). This time I'm by myself and this caused a bit of an issue.

I can imagine that would be incredibly difficult to do Hena. I am lucky that I have a (tiny) tripod so I can mount the camera and be free to do the necessary pointing to / movement of models. I'm also going to scrap the in-video audio and create a seperate track using Audacity which will then be put over the footage. This means that my video and audio are completely seperate processes which hopefully should give me better control over both.

Good luck Hena, I don't envy you but am looking forward to your video, particularly because I don't play EA and want to see how it works!

I also have a this small ~20cm tripod, but it can't do proper overhead shots. I'm actually thinking of either a) putting the game area on floor and use table for keeping the camera or b) put table near a bookshelf for same effect.

Haha! Sounds like we've got the same tripod Hena! I was just planning on dumping a box on the board to film raised perspectives. Great minds and all that...

I think that it's much better to keep the game on the table, and raise the tripod somehow. It's important to keep the game in as natural a state as possible, and it's also easier to demonstrate the line of sight rules on the table, than it is on the floor.

I want to start picking forces for Saturday's filmed battle report, so it's last orders for your votes! Voting will close at tonight at 21:00 GMT.

Latest voting remains at:-

Marines: 2
Eldar: 2
Chaos: 6
Squats: 3
Imperial Guard: 4

The two forces with the highest votes will feature. This will be a NetEpic battle report for 3,000 points.

Thank you all for your consideration!
