Currently active in the new section are:

- personal space
- wiki
- picture galleries
- blog
- ad banners

I think that this will keep us all for a little while. There is still a lot of additional things to add, but I would prefer it if people got used to the new system slowly, and added content as much as possible.

OK. I decided to add the chat rooms feature as well. Let me know your feedback on this.

Great to see that the wiki is finally up.

Here are some things I would recommend doing:
- Enable the structure function so we can set up a hierarchical approach to organize the information -  Structure Function
- Unlock the starting page and include links to all subpages on it. It should be the main starting point for everybody. The current locked welcome message could go to its own page.
- Install user themes and allow user preferences to override:  http://themes.tikiwiki.org/tiki-index.php

EA specific:
- Give every army list its own page and include the latest file there. The names in the current table should work as a link to it.

If anybody needs some guidance on editing wiki pages: http://doc.tikiwiki.org/tiki-index.php?page_ref_id=23

I think, when it comes to templates, that it would be better if people just look at what has already been done when they submit a page.

Sorry, but that is the perfect reason to have templates. So we do not need to check all other pages.

I second the structure function, I find wiki's much less confusing with it.

Hi.

- Enable the structure function so we can set up a hierarchical approach to organize the information

Done

- Unlock the starting page and include links to all subpages on it. It should be the main starting point for everybody. The current locked welcome message could go to its own page.

I am not sure what the point of this is. I feel that it is helpful to have a 'welcome' page with the relevant announcements, and people can go where they like from there.

- Install user themes and allow user preferences to override:  http://themes.tikiwiki.org/tiki-index.php

Not keen on doing this. The themes and skins are a little unpredictable, and some themes cause problems with a few features.

EA specific:
- Give every army list its own page and include the latest file there. The names in the current table should work as a link to it.

Happy to do this. Army Champs are welcome to set this up. I will do this for the Tau.

Sorry, but that is the perfect reason to have templates. So we do not need to check all other pages.

Fair enough, but right now I dont know what the ideal template would be, and I think that some games require specific headings that are not needed in others.

So, what types of pages would the templates cover? EA Forces, wargame systems/rules, etc?

Regarding the start page:
This normally works as the central navigation point for all users and should contain easy navigational hints. At least links to the structural starting points for the various games.

Currently people cannot go anywhere from this point- when they hit this page they do not have a clue what the wiki offers etc. It's not very usable nor helpful.

There is no real need for a news page as you should use the 'last changes' page anyway to see what is going on.

Regarding themes:
What features do they break? Personally I would rather have the skins feature instead of other stuff. It's cool that you can have all that modules with TikiWiki but they also put heavy load onto the server.

Just to give you an example: The execution time of the starting page is 5+sec and spikes with the usage of the chat up to 8-12 sec.

Regarding templates:
Templates are useful for repeating content. So let's start with Epic army lists. There is nothing wrong in having multiple templates for different game systems. Templates exist to give similar pages similar looks and remind the user of necessary content. For starters I would use name, description, background, status, development notes and a download link - all topped with some formatting to make it more readable.

Other templates might be game systems itself, BFG fleets, 6mm retailers and so on.

Makes sense. Now done. I have kept the 'welcome' page there, but linked it from the new, editable front page.

Ha! You should have seen the previous applicaiton that I tried. Page loads took in excess of 30 seconds! I have not had the problems that you have noted. Keep an eye on this and let me know if it gets any worse.

I dont know the exact features that break with each theme. Right now, and at this stage, I dont want to risk things by allowing all of the themes to be open to members for changing. Perhaps at a later time.

OK. How about this. I will set up a number of Wiki pages, such as 'Template: Epic Force'. We can then all suggest how the template will look, and we can apply this to those pages. How does that sound?

OK. Templates are now available for:

- BFG Vessel
- EA Force Page
- Games and Rules

That should start us off. Feel free to add and suggest. What other templates would be useful?

With no feedback on the templates, I have moved them over to the specific area of the Wiki and enabled the use of templates. If (When!) more are required, I will add them to the resource.

I have also added a page on the EA Tau. Other ACs should feel free to do likewise.

Thanks.

Some of the text seems scrambled a bit. Eg the welcome page text:

Note: I amndt having technical difficulties with the blogs. Please C not post to blogs unless it is actually your blog. Comments edge Be made to specific posts have normal. I should get this sorted soon, and individual blog owners edge decides whether to allow others to post in their blog. Posts may Be deleted. Otherwise, feel free to start has blog have normal, gold leave comments to other members blogs. Thanks.

and the army list page:

Do Who decide the balances? That' S the hand hand question. This is my opinion (Hena). It' S finally decided by ERC. The Army Champion is expected to Be whitebait to judge this have well. And AC edge decides when the list is moved from Not Ready to Tested (gold back to Not Ready). People wanting to changes has balance level of the list should post has question to Tactical Command forums. Use He army specific one gold the Epic Discussions forum. I could the first ones there have year example and hopefully with

Please keep the table sorted. Order is determined by: Official, Background, Name.

The ??? is used yew the information is not known to the filler (eg. the lists background is not verified by the person adding the information). Empty gold ?-? is used when the information does not exists (eg. several lists don' T cuts army champion gold back-up).

Whats with all the 'gold' words, odd capitalisations, insertions, and other weirdness?

"The Army Champion is expected to Be whitebait"

:O

I love whitebait by the way....
The most popular way of cooking whitebait in New Zealand is the whitebait fritter, which is essentially an omelette containing whitebait. Purists use only the egg white in order to minimise interfering with the taste of the bait. Foreigners frequently react with revulsion when shown uncooked whitebait, which resembles slimy, translucent worms.

Yum!  :D
