Both the GW stores local to me had sold out of the rulebooks (allegedly the staff had bought them....) though they only had 2 or 3 copies ordered.

I actually see the lack of stock (as it has sold out) as a good thing, it shows that GW underestimated the "popularity" of the new game.

Each shop should have orderd 6-10 copies rather than 3 of the rulebook.

Hi!

I'm of mixed feeling about that Jimbo. A lot of store hands may be picking it up to "Seal it away" in event the gam tanks and sell mint copies on e-bay a year from now. I've seen such behavior before and it doesn't reflect actual "players" buying.

Also, epic 40k had a real good "Spike" of sales when released. My local store back then sold about 2 dozen box sets in 2-3 weeks.

Then again I'm a pessimist by nature..... :;):

Hi!

Nah. Any game release has a buffer of 6 months to make the grade. Once the game is released in the US and the sumer has come and gone then we'll have a better idea of the games "selling power".

Its too early yet.  :)

All very interesting theories gentlemen... ?

However, Crimsom F, you work for the man, so that's all I'll say about that! ?

And I'll take a lesson from my Allies, after serving two years in SE Asia... I'll wait and see... I'm not going anywhere... :;):

Hi!

This sort of thing is like a rolling avalanche, unstopable, but your not sure if you'll live or die from the experience.

All you can do IS wait.... :)

well popped into GW today they had the following in stock...

Three Ork Gargants

One Reaver

Two Ork Warband

I would have missed them as they were on a bottom shelf way out of sight... my son found them (he's 18 months now and they were at that level).

No other sign of Epic.... no rule book... no blisters... no signs... no stuff in the Specialist Games display cabinet...

I know I can go mail order, however I was under the impression that there would be "some" stock in most GW stores... and I mean some not hardly any!

Hi!

That really sucks!

This goes along with my impressions that GW stores will stock the game according to the bias of their manager. Most to look good through sales will mostly stock flagship games.

Pity.

Hey Jimbo, 18 month olds are great to take mini shopping, they find all that stuff we're too lazy to crouch and find near floor level.  :;):

Well as I was queuing to pay for my copy of Warmaster Magazine he was busy playing by "stealing" the cleaning rag from one of the staff who was painting and then running out of the shop to his mum and then taking it back...

He then grabbed a box of miniatures and ran out of the shop...

Luckily the staff saw the funny side...

And it was a box of 40K scale Space Marines. not much use anyhow...

:D

My local store manager HATES epic. He's simply never "got" it but Along with some of the other staff, we pestered them enough that they're now stocking a decent amount (havent been in so dont know what, but I know the last order was twice what our next closet store got in :D ), have at least 1 army in the cabinet unless they're being used on the tables & are running a campaign in March.

Persistance can get epic coverage

I went in my store yesterday, and they had the same box sets as Jimbo lists, along with a couple of Ork blisters, and the guy said they had some Space Marine Infantry boxed sets in the back. Nothing of interest to me...

At least my store is running playtest games though!

Cheers

Chris
