I must admit to being a little bit in shock about this! I cant believe that even GW would simply stop selling Epic stuff from previous versions. Surely now that the new game is released, there will be more demand for the old stuff?

This is a real shame.

I'm sure G/W UK told G/W US to stop selling the old stuff so we can get E:A off the ground !  And let there be no doubt ... Archive stuff from G/W US is (or was) NOT CHEAP ! :oo   I run a business and if our customers want it we sell it ... but Epic has such a small worldwide following (probably less than 10,000 ? ??? ), it is not a priority for them ...  :(

Hi!

CS, they did the same thing for epic 40k. I guess they want to obligate players to nuy the newer stuff.

Last time all it did was create a buying frenzy before the deadline and even more exagerated prices on auction sites.

It did not increase sale.

Go figure.

Sometimes it pays to be an old fart. I've got enough IG, SM, Orks, Squats and Eldar to game for a long time. Not anywhere near a primarchload, mind you, but still enough to field a sizable army of each. After I've painted them, that is.

Yup !  Being an Old Timer, I've got 9 Epic Armies and only will buy the new E:A in small quantities for ascetics.  And I can always use another det. of "new" Rhinos, Raiders etc.  Plus there are some actual "new" models just not new versions, too !  So we will have to wait and see ... if E:A flys ! :;):

Hi!

Which is why GW does not market to "old farts" like us.

Well, there's a pic of the Revenant up on the SG website, and the 1.0 Ulthw? list is up along with an update for the Black Legion, Feral Orks, and Biel-Tann.

Revenant's pretty strange - looks like a cross between a Dire Avenger, a unit from Evangelion, a bit of Dark Eldar, and some Jedi style posing, with just a hint of the previous Revenant thrown in.

I think the new Revenant requires some time to getting used to. Looks like a nice detailed model but the pose is just so fundamentally different from the previous versions that it will probablt recieve quite a bit of flaming to begin with.
I think I like it though...

Cheers! :)

I like it - but I'd like it better if WH40K didn't exist - in particular, Wraitghuard.

Ok, I'm being unclear : it looks a lot like a WH40k figure used in an Epic game, a bit like an Exarch, or a Wraithguard with a new set of weapons. It's a nice model, but looks a bit out of place: I think it's the head - it looks too WH40K-scale.

I'm going to have to disagree with vanvlak on this one.

I don't think wraithguard at all when I see it, I see "Five Star Stories" the anime and manga epic.

Google it and you'll see what I mean.

Edit

here's a few pics to save everyone the trouble.

These aren't the best matches, but I'd say GW has been watching a lot of anime of late. Not a bad thing mind you.

Regardless, the head and legs look like they could be 40k figures. It's not really a bad thing, AFAIK, and helps to set apart the Eldar from the Humans and the Orks, but it will take some getting used to.

Ah excellent.... looks great in my opinion!
I can see your point Vanvlak, but it looks nicely detailed and very dynamic. I'd like to see some more angles before I pass final judgement on it; but a pretty easy way of making it less 40k-ish would be to fill the visor with green stuff and file it smooth- I'll consider doing this when I get a few for my Eldar....  :)

Hi Stormseer et al,
don't get me wrong, I like it too, but I keep seeing it in the wrong scale, if you get what I mean. Your head idea (or a total replacement with a n old Titan head - if you have one, that is) should work.
Ork D, I agree that it looks terribly (but not terrible as in ugly) Manga/Anime, but for me it's the head of this model which first draws my eye, and this says 'WH40K Eldar'. A painted model might of course look different.
Then again, this has it's possibilities. Check out the price of a box of WH40K plastic Guardians; check the (future) cost of the Revenants. Think what you could do with around 16 Revenants; it's not an overwhelmingly difficult conversion. And Eldrad's your uncle! :p

the figure certainly look like an upsized humanoid; thus the "wrong scale" feeling. but it matches Jes goowin  sketches quite greatly, and in fact it remind me a lot of the old Eldar knight range; the mini have both wonderfull pose ( very dynamic) and details, i assume everyone will like it once we get used to it; and all the more so if the Phantom/Warlord get the same "design". After all, Eldar titans are made of Wraithbone and are almost upsized wraithguard, baring the crew (they have quite a bit of their own "spirit" too).
I must say i was somewhat surprised but i like it quite much.
