Even though I'm tired of it, I'm playing Orks v Marines tomorrow and wanted to solicit opinions on this 4K GT list.
================

Big Rollaz ?440
Warband
2 Nobz
Flakwagon
Gunwagon
Battlefortress

Da Boyz ?350
Big Warband

Shooty Boyz ?470
Uge Gunzmob
2 Nobz
4 Boyz/grots

Stompaz ?350
Big Stompamob
2 Kanz

Air 'Zalt Boyz ?290
Stormboyz
4 Dethkoptas

2 x Tankboyz ?300 ea.
Blitz Brigade (1 flak, 2 gun, 1 oddboy)
Oddboy
Gunfortress

Bikerz ?200
KoS

Kartz ?350
Big KoS (5 scorcha, 11 buggies/trakks)

Flyboyz ?300

Da Boss ?650
Gargant (2 Soopagunz, 1 SupaZzap gun)
Warlord

======

11 formations.

I intend to garrison stompaz-boyz-shooty for a solid line of greenskins and run the gargant up behind them ASAP in order to get mutual support against the rather nasty SM assaults.

Stormboyz will garrison off to one side, hopefully to catch a target of opportunity.  If not, they are fast enough to re-deploy.Bikes and buggies will work as maneuver assault elements, just father back.

Tankboyz will move to provide fire towards the heaviest concentration of hard targets (LRs, Warhounds, etc.)

Flyboyz are to hit arty and then targets of opportunity, probably including deep strikes (teleporters/drop pods/thawks).

Da Big Rollaz are the reserve force to fill in the line or to deploy in the backfield against deep strikes.

Suggestions?  Is 3 supaZzaps overkill vs. marines?  Is 3 flakwagons and the FB overkill on AA?

I think it looks good, but then I haven't played such a large game.

Against Marines, I would think you need a few MW/Titan killer shots.  With their Land Raiders and termies, there are plenty of reinforced armoured units.

Tell us how you get on, I'd like to hear a report on such a large battle (especially as I dont get to game myself).

Well... it was a blowout.  In 2 turns, the SMs failed 6 or 7 activations (with only 11 formations).  A couple activations into Turn 3 also included a failed activation on his part.  And he had really lousy rally rolls.

Combined with the fact that a couple good attack rolls on my part broke formations which hadn't activated yet, that meant that about half of his army did absolutely nothing.

Not much of a battle.  We called it shortly into turn 3, once it became obvious there was absolutely nothing he could do to stop me from taking 4 objectives, including the table edge.

I really felt bad for him.  I hate to win that way.

In the "lessons learned" column, I would say that the Blitz Brigades are very good formations.  Although fairly small and fragile, they are relatively quick and have lots of firepower.  On the first turn I double moved and fired at a Warhound.  With blow average rolls on the big gunz/twin big shootas (2 hits total to strip shield) and an above average roll on the supazzap gun (3 points of TK damage), I killed it in one shot.

On the just-released army list, the point cost went up to 335 for the formation, but I will still be taking it.

Well, it would be interesting to play them again, and see how it pans out this time.  The Marines had some real bad luck -> failing 6 activations!!!

He and I work together.  We were just down drinking coffee and talking about running it again, but adding a mega Gargant and an Imperator.

Since he's getting laid off at the end of the week, we might be able to manage it. :)
