Meeples and Miniatures has a show on the various editions of Epic. Should be interesting to listen to.

It's actually the "NetEpic Show," being as everyone on the podcast is heavily weighted toward that flavor of the game.

I liked the attention and it was a great session but yeah they should have had a member participant heavily involved in in each edition* for the discussion as it quickly devolved into bitching about the rest of the versions out there. Yes I get that it was playful generally but comments like "proper armies" or "collections" or "if you played E40k you're dumbing it down" (which is widely regarded by professional game designers as the best rules that GW ever actually produced incidentally) or "they're not real epic" were a bit off-putting and tiresome after-while.

(*perhaps not the 1st as I don't think that's ever coalesced a community but i could be wrong)

BTW: P, the part about "hey honey, I'm not as bad as that guy!!!" had me loling

Is that epic 40K bashing still going on? Really? Thx for the heads up. Will skip this.

It's worth listening because when that part is past (35 mins or so) there's some very interesting history about NetEpic, especially the part of about a tester in GW leaking info. But yeah as BM notes, this is "The NetEpic Episode" not Epic in general (nothing wrong with that, just is what it is).

Yeah, when I realized we were all 2E / NetEpic fans, I knew this would happen. I thought Mike was going to get at least one E:A fan. I agree that we gave Epic 40K and Epic Armageddon unfairly short shrift. I think I did say that I think Epic 40K is actually a great game, it's just not what I personally wanted at the time.

Epic 40,000 and Epic Armageddon fans will rightly be upset with us. That said, unhappiness with E:40K is the reason NetEpic started in the first place, and Primarch was on to explain how NetEpic was created, so, it was kinda unavoidable. At any rate, it was fun to talk Epic with fellow enthusiasts.

Yeah it just really felt like a missed opportunity, that's all. I actually really appreciated your section especially about PV and making the game your own.

Well, if people will be offended by a few guys views concerning a ruleset well ... then they can be offended.

Theese days E:a is by far the most popular ruleset and most tournaments uses it which is the most important thing for me (because that means I can have lots of opportunities to play with my favourite ruleset).

To be honest. Using the word offended at others is hardly conducive to fruitful talk. I don't care. As Jimmy said, a bit of a missed opportunity. That's all.

Great listen (needed 2 sessions! its a full nerd-gasm on tape! :-) There is a bit about other editions, and some other games but obviously it is 2nd ed focused - but that's ok, that was my "golden age" too.

Sad to hear that it sounds like 3rd ed was basically torpedoed months before release by people from within the design team. Good to hear that many of these contributors have now revised their opinion. As Ken says, it was a good system but just "not what was expected." For the record, there is at least one Epic40k fan - me - and plenty more over on the 3rd ed thread !

Would be great if they wanted to do a small feature in a future episode on E.A. to update the current state of epic around the world. Especially as it seems to be going from strength to strength in certain areas. Sure someone from Epic AU, UK, Fr and the US (and probably others) could be rounded up for a plug !

Also to hear more from Ken about Pollyversal. Can't wait to get my copy from the kickstarter.

And Primarch sounds nothing like i would have imagined ! :D
