Hi, I have a quick question about how people base the commanders in their space marine armies. I'm fairly new to epic and, as I have different models for each type of commander, do I (for example) make three tactical marine bases each with a different type commander added on or, do I just mount all the commander types on one base and have a generic 'command stand' as I seem to have seen this in lots of pictures, but surely this is confusing as how does your opponent know what type of commander it represents? What do people generally do? Thanks in advance for your help! Ben |

The example you describe is often done with the Supreme Commander stand in the army (often stuck in a Tactical Formation). Tech Marines and Apothecaries don't have any effect on the game (unless using the Imperial Firsts or Iron Hands lists) so they're command enough to be seen along side the main dude to make it stand out on the tabletop. I've seen some people go as far as making a "mini-stand" just for their commanders to move along with the unit. I've seen some people use the old school flags to denote this. Someone here even went as far as to magnetize some and swap them out! I doubt you need to worry too much as to be honest, 95% of the time you're probably taking a Chaplain character upgrade simply for the awesomeness it has in assaults. Some lists have core formations with Captains already included so of course YMMV. |

I have magnetised some of my characters using 0.5mm disc magnets but that is because a) those particular models are not very available and b) I am too lazy to paint more models. For marines in Epic Armageddon I don't think it's worth it - just put a chaplain in with 4 terminators and a supreme commander in with tacticals, it's probably all you'll need
