I notice the epic uk rules has some clarifiacation on what's "within" and "fully within". Thing is the rules say you have to set up within 15cm of your table edge and everyone I know sets up fully within 15cm of the table edge as that's probably the intention (as it standardises the distance apart that oposing models start). I guess it's best to ignore this anomoly and just carry on setting up fully within 15cm? |

Thanks Carlos... and for garrisons it's ok just to be "within" 15cm of the objective on your side of the table. e.g. when garrisoning off the blitz (I know the blitz is measured from the table edge) you can have the unit closes to the blitz almost entirely outside the deployment zone - just needs a fraction wtihin 15cm of the blitz? |

All normal deployment should be (wholly) within 15cm of the board edge - agreed. There are other uses of the word within in the rules that do not mean 'wholly within' (within 15cm to lend supporting fire, within 5cm for coherency, within 5cm when unloading [yes I know it's played in various ways around the world ![]() The 5 min warm up chat is the best time to make sure both/all players are on the same page when it comes to these things. |

I tend to count deployment as fully within, both in terms of board edge and board half (for garrisons), but anything that involves measuring between two things (eg coherency, range, objectives) I would measure part-within. The one I'm never quite sure about is disembarking, but I think "fully within" can be quite tricky to actually do with some units depending on the models used (10 units in a gorgon?). Not impossible, just comically limiting. |

I guess you could steal a few mm when garrisoning off the blitz with the first deployed unit and the other ones of course don't care. |
