Post subject:  skorcha buggies ignore cover in FF
Hi,

Quick rule question: do skorchas ignore cover in FF?
I presumed that as they had no small arms on their profile in FF they used the stats for their gun?
Let me know if wrong on this.

No Ignore Cover for Skorcha FF.
They would need a points increase if they had IC on the FF.

It is odd but it's a question of balance trumping theme.

I kind of think a FF of 5+ with ignores cover would be more appropriate for them as with FF 4+ they do very well also against AV and WE in a FF which isn't very fluffy.

I think FF4+ is reasonable myself. They generally have to be taken (like most Ork things) in large numbers to be effective anyway. It differentiates them well from the the other Kult of Speed options of Buggies and Bikes too.

Fluff is a funny one, and can almost always be justified in any way someone wants. Taking the AV/WE point. You can just as easily imagine the skorcha flames getting in through a tanks vision slit, and quickly turning the inside into a raging inferno. Insta-coffin!
Same with a WE, flames find a slight chink in the armour plating and gets into the ammo? Boom!

I do get what you're saying, but IMO this is one of those cases of 'If it ain't broke don't fix it' :)

That's a good point actually - hadn't thought of that. Although the no IC in FF is still a bit odd. Maybe we can assume infantry in cover use some kind of close range countermeasures (suppressive fire or grenades) to prevent the scorchers firing at full effect on them.

Ok, that makes sense. They did seem a bit good with the IC in FF, and epic is supposed to be more abstract in any case ;)
